The men's cycle sport, cycling team pursuit at the 2019 European Games was held at the Minsk-Arena, Minsk Velodrome on 27 and 28 June 2019. Results Qualifying First round First round heats were held as follows: Heat 1: 7th fastest alone Heat 2: 5th v 6th fastest Heat 3: 2nd v 3rd fastest Heat 4: 1st v 4th fastest The winners of heats 3 and 4 proceeded to the gold medal race. Minsk-Arena
Minsk Arena () is the main indoor arena in Minsk, Belarus. The Minsk-Arena complex includes the main multi-purpose arena (capable of hosting 15,000 spectators) with an open multi-level parking lot (with 1,080 parking spaces) alongside an interconnected 2,000-seat velodrome and a 3,000-seat speed skating rink. Complex venues Minsk-Arena was created by the decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus on the construction of a multi-disciplinary sports complex, which was issued at the end of 2005. Construction work began in the spring of 2006. The general designer of the complex was "Bilproekt", and the general contractor was "Minskprombud". The Minsk Arena Velodrome opened on 30 December 2008 and can accommodate 2,000 spectators. Team Pursuit
The team pursuit is a track cycling event similar to the individual pursuit, except that two teams, each of up to four riders, compete, starting on opposite sides of the velodrome. Race format Both men's and women's events are competed over a distance of 4 km, by a team of 4 riders. Prior to the start of the 2012–13 season the women's event was competed over a distance of 3 km, by a team of 3 riders. As with the individual pursuit, the objective is to cover the distance in the fastest time or to catch and overtake the other team in a final. Riders in a team follow each other closely in line, drafting to minimize total drag, and periodically the lead rider (who works the hardest) peels off the front, swings up the track banking and rejoins the team at the rear.
