Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome
The Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, known for sponsorship reasons as the Emirates Arena, is an indoor arena and velodrome in Dalmarnock, Glasgow, Scotland. Built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, these venues hosted the badminton and track cycling events. Situated opposite Celtic Park in the East End, Glasgow, East End of Glasgow, the complex is also the headquarters of Scottish Cycling. History It was built on a site at a cost of £113 million. The construction work took place between 2009 and 2012. The venue opened in October 2012. Vincent De Haître
Vincent De Haître (born June 16, 1994) is a Canadian dual-sport athlete competing as both a speed skater and track cyclist who has been in sport since 2000. After competing at his second Olympic games in PyeongChang De Haître made the switch back over to track cycling where he has been competing as a member of the Canadian national team since the fall of 2018 in an effort to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Career Speed skating De Haître started in speed skating competing in the Gloucester Concordes speed skating club. Shane Perkins
Shane Perkins (; born 30 December 1986) is an Australian and Russian (since 17 August 2017) professional track cyclist. Biography Early life Perkins was born in Melbourne, the son of Daryl Perkins. As a youngster, Perkins played cricket, football and basketball. He played basketball at a very high level aged 7 to 14, but did not enjoy it enough to continue. Perkins rode BMX for a short while and began cycling aged 13 in 1999 with his father, who had himself been a successful cyclist. His first cycling club was the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club, and his first medal was won at the Victoria state championships at Northcote, it was a gold medal in the sprint event, where he beat friend and rival Michael Ford. Josiah Ng Onn Lam (, born 2 February 1980) is a retired Malaysian professional track cyclist. Josiah was the first Malaysian to make it into the cycling Olympic finals becoming a three-time Olympian, representing Malaysia at Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. In 2004 he was awarded the Malaysian Olympian and Sportsman of the Year after being the 1st Malaysian cyclist to make a final in cycling at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Edward James Dawkins (born 11 July 1989) is a New Zealand track cyclist. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games he won the silver medal in the men's sprint and the bronze medal in the men's 1 kilometre time trial. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won the bronze medal in the men's sprint, and was part of the New Zealand time that won the gold medal in the team sprint, with Ethan Mitchell and Sam Webster. Chris Pritchard (born 2 January 1983) is a presenter and a former professional cyclist who has competed on the track and the road. Born in Sheffield, England, Pritchard took up competitive cycling at the age of 25 after previously racing motorcycles. He moved to the Cycle Premier Race Team in 2012 after a season blighted with injury for in 2011. He subsequently joined the Glasgow Life Track Cycling Team in September 2013. Hugo Barrette (born 4 July 1991) is a Canadian cyclist, specializing in track time trials. Barrette is from the Magdalen Islands, Quebec and now lives in Santa Monica, California, in the USA. Records On 28 August 2014 at Aguascalientes, he set a new Canadian record in the flying 200 m time trial of 9.77 seconds.
