Curling At The 2016 Winter Youth Olympics – Mixed Doubles
Mixed doubles curling at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics was held from February 19 to 21 at Kristins Hall in Lillehammer, Norway. Teams The teams will consist of athletes from the mixed team tournament, one boy and one girl from different NOCs. The teams will be selected by the organizing committee based on the final ranking from the mixed team competition in a way that balances out the teams, and will be assigned on February 17. Kristins Hall
Eidsiva Arena, also known as Kristins Hall, is an arena located at Stampesletta in Lillehammer, Norway. It consists of an ice rink, a combined team handball, handball and floorball court, and a curling rink. The venue, owned and operated by the Lillehammer Municipality, opened in 1988 and cost 65 million Norwegian krone (NOK) to build. One of the motivations for its construction was to help Lillehammer's bid to be selected as the host of the 1994 Winter Olympics. The ice rink has a capacity for 3,194 spectators and is the home rink of GET-ligaen hockey club Lillehammer IK. Eidsiva Arena is located next to the larger Håkons Hall, which opened in 1993. Mary Fay (born June 7, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Chester, Nova Scotia. Curling career At just 15 years old, Fay and her young rink of Jenn Smith, Karlee Burgess and Janique LeBlanc won the 2014 Nova Scotia Junior women's championship. They were the youngest team to win in 20 years., sending the four-some to the 2014 Canadian Junior Curling Championships to represent Nova Scotia. Despite their youth, the team finished with an 8-2 record, making the playoffs. The team would go on to lose to British Columbia, skipped by Kalia Van Osch in the semi-final, winning a bronze medal.
