Crown Street, Wollongong
Crown Street is the main street in the city of Wollongong, New South Wales. It was created in the early 19th century from a cattle track which follows a ridge from Mount Keira to the first farm house in the area, and quickly became the "main" street of the then-town. Today Crown Street is the main arterial route through Wollongong from the southern suburbs to the north east. Princes Highway is a major road in Australia, extending from Sydney via Melbourne to Adelaide through the states of New South Wales, Victoria (Australia), Victoria and South Australia. West Wollongong is the innermost western suburb of the coastal city of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. Wollongong Central is a large shopping centre in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. History Whilst Wollongong Central today is one complete shopping centre, it was originally two separate and distinct shopping centres. Crown Central shopping centre was constructed and opened in 1975 by the Abbey Capital Property Group on the northern side of Crown Street, taking the majority of the Crown Street frontage between Keira Street and Church Street. Crown Central featured the Venture department store, Franklins supermarket, Best & Less and 30 stores.
