Crane-Simplex
Crane-Simplex was the common name of the Simplex Crane Model 5 luxury automobile, produced by the Simplex Automobile Company in New Brunswick, New Jersey, from 1915 to 1918. Crane-Simplex Company was formed in 1922 in Long Island City, New York, by Henry M. Crane to resume production of the luxury car. Crane-Simplex Company Wright-Martin sold the Simplex Automobile Company assets to Mercer Motors Company controlled by Emlen S. Hare in 1920. In July 1921 Hare's Motors announced it would be dissolved and the separate units would reorganize as individual companies. Simplex which was still not producing cars, reverted to Mercer ownership. By July 1922, a reorganization of Mercer Motors and reversal of its arrangements with Hare Motors was finally completed. Organized on September 20, 1922, Henry M. Crane (formerly Hickory Grove) is a town in Stone County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,495 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Branson, Missouri Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Crane was platted in 1895, taking its name from nearby Crane Creek. A post office called Crane has been in operation since 1887. Geography The town is in northwest Stone County, approximately four miles northwest of Elsey along Missouri Route 413, and eleven miles south of Billings, in Christian County. Crane, Oregon
Crane is an unincorporated town and census designated place in Harney County, Oregon, United States, northeast of Malheur Lake on Oregon Route 78. Its population was 116 at the 2020 census. History Crane was named for the prominent local features Crane Creek and Crane Creek Gap. Crane Creek Gap is the pass between the Harney Basin and the drainage basin of the South Fork Malheur River. Crane Creek is probably named for the sandhill crane, which was once abundant in eastern Oregon. Crane post office was established in 1895 and discontinued in 1903. When the Union Pacific Railroad was completed from Ontario, Oregon, in 1916, the post office was reopened. Until the railroad was finished to Burns in 1924, Crane was an important livestock shipping point, and the town was thriving with its five restaurants, four hotels, three garages, two general merchandise stores, a warehouse, a lumber yard, livery stables, a dance hall, a newspaper, a bank and a movie theater. Castle Hill is a mansion in Ipswich, Massachusetts, which was completed in 1928 as a summer home for Mr. and Mrs. Richard Teller Crane, Jr. It is also the name of the drumlin surrounded by sea and salt marsh that the home was built atop. Both are part of the Crane Estate, located on Argilla Road.
