Cox's Bazar Bus Terminal
Cox's Bazar Bus Terminal is the central bus terminal for Cox's Bazar District. It is situated in Larpara which is outside of the border of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. It was established in 2001 to resolve traffic jam issues in the city which is maintained by the municipality authorities. The terminal is closed after 5 pm even though it has to be open 24 hours a day. A number of multi-storey illegal shops have been built in front of the terminal where illegal drug trade takes place. Buses are parked outside the terminal as no parking space is available in the terminal caused by the illegal shops. Traffic jams have thus increased in the area. Cox's Bazar (; ; ) is a city, fishing port, tourism centre, and Cox's Bazar District, district headquarters in south-eastern Bangladesh. Cox's Bazar Beach, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangladesh, is the longest uninterrupted naturally occurring sea beach in the world. Cox's was a department store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With a four-story flagship store in the downtown business district of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Cox's had seven retail stores in shopping malls throughout the Pittsburgh area. History Cox's was the successor to a small seamstress shop established in 1884 by Mary Ann Cox in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. By the 1950s, the operation had grown so much that Robert Cox, grandson of Mary Ann, purchased the White Opera house at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Walnut Street in the downtown business district of McKeesport and demolished it to build a flagship department store. N1 (Bangladesh)
The N1 or Dhaka–Chittagong Highway is the main transportation artery of Bangladesh, connecting the capital city of Dhaka and the southern port city of Chittagong. Approximately in length, the highway starts at Jatrabari in Dhaka and ends at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar. The highway is known along certain stretches as the Chittagong–Cox's Bazar Highway and the Cox's Bazar–Teknaf Highway. Cox's Bazar District () is a district in the Chittagong Division of Bangladesh. It is named after Cox's Bazar town. It is located south of Chittagong. ''Bhorer Kagoj'' ( ''Bhorer Kagoj'' "Dawn's Paper") is a major Bengali-language daily newspaper, published from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The newspaper is published in both print and online formats. History ''Bhorer Kagoj'' began publications on 15 February 1992 led by founding editor Nayeemul Islam Khan. Julfikar Ali Manik worked at the paper in the 1990s. Kolatoli Square
Kolatoli Square (also known as Dolphin Square and Shark Square) is a place in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. It can be reached from the capital Dhaka by taking the N110 (Bangladesh), N110 highway from the N1 (Bangladesh), N1. It spans 170 meters from the Dolphin fountain to shore of Cox's Bazar Beach. It is the entrance to the city for tourists. Cox's Bazar–Teknaf Marine Drive starts from here which leads to Sabrang Union in Teknaf. A shark sculpture was installed here in 2010. But as it is known as dolphin sculpture, it creates confusion among tourists. Besides, seeing the shark sculpture in Kolatoli, some people think that there are sharks in the sea water and refrain from bathing there. Considering these aspects, the district authority of Cox's Bazar decided to replace the shark sculpture with a new sculpture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 2019.
