Concepción Bona is a Santo Domingo Metro station on Line 2. It was open on 9 August 2018 as part of the section of Line 2 between Eduardo Brito and Concepción Bona. It is currently the eastern terminus of the line. The adjacent station is Trina de Moya de Vasquez. This is an underground station built below Avenida San Vicente de Paúl. Santo Domingo Metro
The Santo Domingo Metro () is a rapid transit system in Greater Santo Domingo. Serving the capital of the Dominican Republic, it is the most extensive metro system in the insular Caribbean and Central American region by length and number of stations. It began operation on January 30, 2009. The Metro is a major part of the "National Master Plan" to improve transportation in Greater Santo Domingo and the rest of the nation. The first line was planned to relieve traffic congestion on the Máximo Gómez and Hermanas Mirabal Avenue thoroughfares, which connect Santo Domingo. The second line, which opened in April 2013, is meant to relieve the congestion along the Duarte-Kennedy-Centenario Corridor in the city from west to east. Maria de la Concepción Bona Hernández, Mother Founder (December 6, 1824July 2, 1901) was a nursery school teacher and a campaigner for the independence of the Dominican Republic. Together with María Trinidad Sánchez, Isabel Sosa and María de Jesús Pina, she took part in designing the Flag of the Dominican Republic, Dominican flag. Birth and childhood Concepción Bona was born in Santo Domingo on 6 December 1824. From a young age, she showed love for the country and kept up to date with all independence events at all times. Her early years and youth were spent in a house located on Palo Hincado Street, almost on the corner of El Conde, a street that appears in the history of Santo Domingo as the place where most of the independence movements were incubated.
