Complete 'B' Sides
''Complete 'B' Sides'' is a compilation album of songs by American alternative rock band Pixies. It features the B-sides for seven out of eight of their UK singles, as well as for one USA single, from the 1980s and 1990s. The eighth, " Letter to Memphis", had no B-sides. Pixies (band)
The Pixies are an American alternative rock band from Boston, Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1986 by Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals) and David Lovering (drums). The Pixies are associated with the 1990s alternative rock boom, and draw on elements including punk rock and surf music, surf rock. Their music is known for dynamic "loud-quiet-loud" shifts and song structures. Velouria
"Velouria" is a song by the American alternative rock band Pixies, written and sung by the band's frontman Black Francis. The song was written as a love song rooted in Francis's experience with a girl associated with the Rosicrucians of Northern California. The lyrics also touched on Francis's interest in UFOs. Musically, the song features surf rock elements as well as a prominent theremin part. "Velouria" was released as the lead single from ''Bossanova'' in July 1990 and became the band's first Top 40 hit in the United Kingdom. The release was accompanied by a music video, featuring a short clip of the band in a quarry slowed down to fit the song's length. NARC (video Game)
''Narc'' (stylized as ''NARC'') is a 1988 run and gun arcade video game designed by Eugene Jarvis for Williams Electronics and programmed by George Petro, Todd Allen, and Eugene Jarvis, with art by Jack Haeger, John Newcomer, and Lin Young. It was one of the first ultra-violent video games and a frequent target of parental criticism of the video game industry. The object is to arrest and kill drug offenders, confiscate their money and drugs, and defeat "Mr. Big". It was the first game in the newly restarted Williams Electronics coin-op video game division. Shortly before its release, Williams acquired the video and pinball divisions of Bally/Midway. ''Narc'' was ported to the Commodore 64, Atari ST, Amiga, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and NES. Neil Young
Neil Percival Young (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian and American singer-songwriter. "I've Been Waiting for You" is a song written by Neil Young, which he recorded for his 1968 debut solo album. "Wave of Mutilation" is an alternative rock song by the American band Pixies, and is the third track on their 1989 album '' Doolittle''. Written and sung by the band's frontman Black Francis, the song was inspired by articles about Japanese businessmen committing murder-suicides by driving into the ocean. The song also references a lyric from the Charles Manson-penned "Cease to Exist", released by the Beach Boys as "Never Learn Not to Love". In addition to appearing on ''Doolittle'', an alternate version of the song featuring a different arrangement, known as the "UK Surf" version, was released as a B-side to "Here Comes Your Man". Peter Scott Ivers (born Peter Scott Rose, September 20, 1946 – March 3, 1983) was an American musician, singer, songwriter and television personality. He served as host of the experimental music television show '' New Wave Theatre''. "In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song)" (often referred to as simply "In Heaven") is a song performed by Laurel Near, composed by Peter Ivers, with lyrics by David Lynch. ''Devil's Workshop'' is the second of a pair of albums by Frank Black and the Catholics to be simultaneously released on August 20, 2002 (along with '' Black Letter Days''). "His Kingly Cave" was originally recorded for an aborted album project in mid-2000 entitled '' Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day''. "Velvety"'s music comes from an earlier Pixies B-side, appropriately named "Velvety Instrumental Version". The track first received lyrics when it was revived for this album. Background In 2002, Frank Black talked to the Free Williamsburg website about some of the songs on ''Devil's Workshop''.
