Comedy Central Records is a record label based in New York and owned by Paramount Global. The label specializes in stand-up comedy albums and is distributed by Alternative Distribution Alliance, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group. The label has released albums from artists such as Aziz Ansari, Louis C.K., Amy Schumer, and Kevin Hart. As of December 2016, Comedy Central Records has put out over 200 albums. History 2002–06 Comedy Central Records was founded in 2002 by American multi-Grammy winning record and television producer, Jack Vaughn Jr. along with Comedy Central. The first release under the label was Comedy Central's "Crank Yankers," an uncensored album featuring human-like puppets voiced by comedic talent such as Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman and Fred Armisen, making off-color crank calls to one another. Mitch Hedberg
Mitchell Lee Hedberg (February 24, 1968 – March 30, 2005) was an American stand-up comedian known for his surreal humor and deadpan delivery. His comedy typically featured short, sometimes one-line jokes mixed with absurd elements and non sequiturs. Hedberg's comedy and onstage persona gained him a cult following, with audience members sometimes shouting out the punchlines to his jokes before he could finish them. Early life Hedberg was born on February 24, 1968, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of Arne and Mary (née Schimscha, 1943–2012) Hedberg. He was of Finnish-Swedish (from his paternal grandparents), Czech, and German descent. Hedberg attended Harding High School in Saint Paul. Harland Michael Williams (born November 14, 1962) is a Canadian actor, comedian and writer. After several years of stand-up in Toronto and Los Angeles he made his film debut in '' Dumb and Dumber'' (1994) before playing starring roles in the short-lived sitcom '' Simon'' (1995–96) and the Disney comedy '' RocketMan'' (1997). Daniel Dwight Tosh (born May 29, 1975) is an American comedian, writer, and producer. After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Marketing, Tosh moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. ''Retaliation'' is the second album by American comedian Dane Cook. It was released on July 26, 2005 by Comedy Central Records. The CDs contain a concert done by Cook at The Comedy Connection in Boston, Massachusetts. The DVD contains Dane's appearances on ''Shorties Watchin' Shorties'' and ''Crank Yankers'', ''Comedy Central's Denis Leary Roast'' and ''Comedy Central's Bar Mitzvah Bash''. The Crank Yankers call Foreign Guy English Lessons is previously unreleased. The album debuted at #4 on the ''Billboard'' 200, which was the most successful comedy album debut since Steve Martin's ''A Wild and Crazy Guy'' in 1978. It went gold six days after its initial release and platinum on November 30, 2005. Retaliation achieved double platinum status on February 15, 2007. Anthony Steven Kalloniatis (born August 23, 1967) is an American stand-up comedian and actor, best known by his stage name Ant. Career Ant performed at comedy clubs across the US beginning in 1991. In 1995, he was a semi-regular cast member on the WB series '' Unhappily Ever After'', spending four seasons on the sitcom. Ant appeared as a contestant on '' Last Comic Standing'', competing in seasons two and three.
