Colorado's 7th Senate district is one of 35 districts in the Colorado Senate. It has been represented by Republican Janice Rich since 2023. Prior to redistricting the district was represented by Republicans Ray Scott and Steve King. Geography District 7 is exactly coterminous with Mesa County, covering Grand Junction and the nearby communities of Fruita, Palisade, Clifton, Fruitvale, Loma, Orchard Mesa, and Redlands. The district is located entirely within Colorado's 3rd congressional district, and overlaps with the 54th and 55th districts of the Colorado House of Representatives. Colorado's 3rd Congressional District
Colorado's 3rd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Colorado. It takes in most of the rural Western Slope in the state's western third portion, with a tendril in the south taking in some of the southern portions of the Eastern Plains. It includes the cities of Grand Junction, Durango, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Ignacio, and Pueblo. The district is currently represented by Republican Lauren Boebert. The district was represented from 1987 to 1993 by Ben Nighthorse Campbell before he ran for the U.S. Senate and switched parties from Democratic to Republican. The district's former representative Scott R. Tipton lost renomination in 2020 to the more conservative Boebert in what was considered a major upset. Cory Gardner
Cory Scott Gardner (born August 22, 1974) is an American attorney, lobbyist, and politician who served as a United States senator from Colorado from 2015 to 2021. A Republican, he was the U.S. representative for Colorado's 4th congressional district from 2011 to 2015 and a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Gardner defeated Democratic incumbent Mark Udall in the 2014 Senate race. Gardner was chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2017 to 2019. After the 2018 midterm elections, he and University of Colorado Regent Heidi Ganahl became the only Republicans to hold statewide elected office in Colorado.
