Colony (video Game)
''Colony'' is an action-adventure game written by Ste Cork and released in 1987 for the Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit family, Commodore 64, MSX, and ZX Spectrum by Mastertronic on their Bulldog label. Plot Overpopulation has caused humanity to grow food in colonies on other planets. Unfortunately, the mushroom-growing planet that the player is responsible for is also inhabited by hostile native aliens which resemble giant insects. The player must use the droid under their control to maintain and harvest the mushrooms as well as look after and protect the colony itself. Gameplay Gameplay takes place in a flip-screen environment consisting of the colony itself (which is made-up of storehouses, some specialist buildings, mushroom fields and areas for solar panels) and the surrounding desert of the alien planet which is filled with various giant insects. MC Lothlorien
MC Lothlorien was a video games developer and publisher based in United Kingdom. The company was founded in 1982 and initially specialised in developing software for the ZX Spectrum, Dragon 32 and BBC Micro computer platforms on its own Lothlorien publishing label. The company was associated in its early days with computer wargaming, with Johnny Reb and Redweed being two early games of that genre produced for the ZX Spectrum. In 1985 the company entered an agreement with Argus Press Software to improve the marketing and distribution of its titles. In later years, the company developed titles for other publishers, using the name MC Lothlorien and Icon Design, which was formed in 1986 following their acquisition of A'n'F Software, publishers of ''Chuckie Egg''. BMX Simulator
''BMX Simulator'' is a racing video game designed by Richard Darling and released by Codemasters in 1986 for the Commodore 64. It is part of a series of games that includes ''ATV Simulator'', '' Grand Prix Simulator'', ''Professional Ski Simulator'', and a sequel: ''Professional BMX Simulator''. ''BMX Simulator'' was ported to the Amiga, Atari 8-bit family, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, MSX, and ZX Spectrum. Gameplay ''BMX Simulator'' is an overhead race game similar to the arcade video game ''Super Sprint''. Mastertronic Games
Mastertronic was originally a publisher and distributor of low-cost computer game software founded in 1983. Their first games were distributed in mid-1984. At its peak the label was one of the largest software publishers in the UK, achieved by selling cassette-based software at £1.99. As well as supplying leading retailers such as Woolworth's and Toys "R" Us, Mastertronic sold software in outlets such as newsagents which had not been previously associated with the software market. Their range of budget games were incredibly successful during the 1980's, with titles such as '' Kikstart'', ''Action Biker'', ''Finders Keepers'', ''Chiller'' and ''Flash Gordon'' (released under the M.A.D. Label). Later diversification included the setting up of US operations to source and distribute their software, as well as an unsuccessful arcade games division ( Arcadia Systems).
