Colm O'Neill (Midleton Gaelic Footballer)
Colm O'Neill (born 20 June 1964) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Midleton and was also a member of the Cork senior football team. O'Neill usually lined out as a forward. Playing career O'Neill first came to prominence as a dual player at club level with Midleton. It was as a hurler that he enjoyed his greatest club success, winning an All-Ireland Club Championship title in 1988. O'Neill first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Cork minor football team in 1981. He won an All-Ireland Minor Championship title in his debut season after scoring three goals in the final against Derry. A subsequent three-year spell with the under-21 team yielded two consecutive All-Ireland Under-21 Championship titles. O'Neill was still a member of the under-21 team when he was drafted onto the Cork senior football team in 1984. Midleton GAA
Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Midleton, County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Imokilly GAA, East Cork Board and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling, but also fields teams in Gaelic football. History Located in the town of Midleton, about 16km from Cork (city), Cork, Midleton Football Club was formally affiliated to the newly-established Gaelic Athletic Association on 17 January 1885. The club had some early successes in winning consecutive Cork Senior Football Championship, Cork SFC titles in 1889 and 1890. Munster Senior Football Championship
The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster GAA, Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship#Munster Senior Football Championship, 1888 championship. The 1987 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 99th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The championship began on 23 May 1987 and ended on 25 October 1987. Midleton entered the championship as the defending champions. The final was played on 25 October 1987 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Midleton and Na Piarsaigh, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Cork GAA, Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the County Cork, county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format.
