College Park–University of Maryland station is a Washington Metro and MARC Train, MARC station located in College Park, Maryland, near the University of Maryland, College Park campus. It is served by the Metro Green Line (Washington Metro), Green Line and limited service on the MARC Camden Line. The light rail Purple Line (Maryland), Purple Line is planned to begin service at the station in 2027. Station layout The station is located on the south side of Campus Parkway, about southeast of the campus center and adjacent to the College Park office park. The two-track Capital Subdivision (used by MARC) and the two-track Metro E Route run north-south through the station area, with the Capital Subdivision on the west side. Yellow Line (Washington Metro)
The Yellow Line is a rapid transit line of the Washington Metro system that runs between in Virginia and in Washington, D.C. It consists of 13 stations in Fairfax County, the city of Alexandria, and Arlington County in Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was the oldest railroads in North America, oldest railroad in the United States and the first steam engine, steam-operated common carrier. Construction of the line began in 1828, and it operated as B&O from 1830 until 1987, when it was merged into the Chessie System. Its lines are today controlled by CSX Transportation. Central Maryland Regional Transit was a bus system serving the greater Laurel, Maryland area and parts of the neighboring Anne Arundel, Prince George's, and Howard counties. Former service into Montgomery County ended in January 2010 due to a lack of funding, though a re-expansion to the county was sought. CMRT was founded as the Corridor Transportation Corporation in May 1987 by the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber, and began its transit operation as Connect-a-Ride two years later with nine buses serving five routes. The non-profit organization gained independence and changed its name in the early 2010 timeframe, and the bus service rebranded to the same name in early 2013. In 2014, Howard County initiated its own Regional Transportation Agency of Central Maryland, recruiting Anne Arundel County to join. Laurel is a city in Maryland, United States, located midway between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore on the banks of the Patuxent River, in northern Prince George's County.
