Cold Chillin' Records
Cold Chillin' Records was a record label that released music during the golden age of hip hop from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. A producer-and-crew label founded by manager Tyrone Williams and run by Len Fichtelberg (1930–November 4, 2010), most of the label's releases were by members of the Juice Crew, a loosely knit group of artists centered on producer Marley Marl. In 1998, the label shut down, and the majority of its catalog was bought by Massachusetts-based LandSpeed Records (now Traffic Entertainment). History Initially, Cold Chillin' was a subsidiary of Prism Records, but label head Tyrone Williams and Fichtelberg decided to merge their companies, and Prism was absorbed by Cold Chillin'. In 1988, it signed a five-year distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records, which remained intact for its full duration. ''Cold Chillin is the third EP from British hardcore punk band Your Demise Your Demise is a British hardcore punk band from St Albans, England, formed in 2004. The Juice Crew was an American hip hop collective made up largely of Queensbridge, New York–based artists in the mid-to-late 1980s. Founded by radio DJ Mr. Magic, and housed by Tyrone Williams' record label Cold Chillin' Records, the Juice Crew helped introduce New School artists MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, Masta Ace, Tragedy, Craig G and Kool G Rap. Death Row Records is an American record label that was founded in 1991 by The D.O.C., Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, and Dick Griffey. The label became a sensation by releasing multi-platinum hip-hop albums by West Coast-based artists such as Dr. Dre ('' The Chronic''), Snoop Dogg ('' Doggystyle'') and 2Pac ('' All Eyez on Me'') during the 1990s. Ruthless Records was an American independent record label founded by Eric "Eazy-E" Wright and Jerry Heller in Compton, California on March 3, 1987. All of the Ruthless trademarks have been owned by Comptown Records, Inc. since 1987. Anthony Hill, known by his stage name YZ, and alias Ali Sa'id Nur al-Din, is an American Rapping, rapper from Trenton, New Jersey, Trenton, New Jersey. Lolita Shante Gooden (born November 9, 1969), better known by her stage name Roxanne Shante, is an American rapper. She first gained attention in 1984 through the Roxanne Wars, and was part of the Juice Crew. The 2017 film ''Roxanne Roxanne'' is a dramatization of Shante's life. Early life and career Shante was born November 9, 1969, in Queens, New York. In 1984, she met Mr. Magic and Marley Marl outside the Queensbridge housing project. They discussed U.T.F.O., since the rap trio had failed to make an appearance at a concert. Cop Killer Controversy
"Cop Killer" is a song by American heavy metal band Body Count. Released on the group's 1992 self-titled debut album, the song was written two years earlier, and was partially influenced by " Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads. The song's lyrics about "cop killing" were criticized by President of the United States George H. W. Bush and Vice President Dan Quayle. Ice-T has called "Cop Killer" a " protest record". He eventually recalled the album and rereleased it without the song.
