Cochrane MRT Station
The Cochrane station is a Rapid transit, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) underground station in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the MRT Kajang Line. The station was opened on 17 July 2017 as part of the second phase operations of the line. The station is located in the Cheras area of Kuala Lumpur adjacent to Jalan Cochrane, Cochrane Road, Jalan Peel, Peel Road and Shelley Road. It is also well known for being located near two large shopping complexes - MyTown Shopping Centre (housing Malaysia's second IKEA store) and Sunway Velocity Mall, with the former being connected to the station via an underground pedestrian linkway and the latter via an elevated pedestrian bridge. The underground station is located in Cheras along Jalan Cochrane, Cochrane Road, Jalan Peel, Peel Road and Shelley Road. Cochrane Shipbuilders
Cochrane Shipbuilders was a shipbuilder at Selby. Due to the narrow width of the River Ouse at Selby, Cochrane launched its ships sideways into the river. History Founded by Andrew Cochrane at Beverley, England in 1884, establishing Cochrane & Sons in 1896. The ship building company moved to Selby in 1898. During the Second World War the company was one of the contractors engaged in building the Mulberry harbour units.Hartcup, p. 94 The yard passed into the ownership of the Ross Group in 1965, and later to the Drypool Group in 1969. The yard was then bought by United Towing Company and in 1977 the company’s name changed to Cochrane Shipbuilders. The North British Maritime Group was taken over by the Howard Smith Group in 1987. Cochrane, Chile
Cochrane is a Chilean town and commune in Capitán Prat Province of the Aisén Region. According to the 2002 census it has a population of 2,867. The urban population in 2002 was 2,217 and the rural population was 650. Cochrane was founded in 1954 (as Pueblo Nuevo), but didn't have road access to the rest of Chile until 1988, when the Carretera Austral was opened. The town was later named Cochrane in honour of Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald, a British naval captain and radical politician who was appointed the first Admiral of the Chilean Navy in 1818 and made a major contribution to winning independence for the young nation from Spain. Cochrane remains the southernmost town along the highway, with only a few villages south of it, among them Caleta Tortel and Villa O'Higgins. The Cochrane Theatre, previously known as the Jeanetta Cochrane Theatre, was a receiving and producing theatre situated in Holborn, London, that opened in 1964. It is now used for television filming. History The theatre opened in 1963 and was named after its founder, Jeannetta Cochrane, who was a theatre practitioner specialising in costume and scenery design at the Central School of Art and Design, now part of the University of the Arts London. Through her persistence, Cochrane persuaded the London County Council to build a theatre attached to the school that could be used as a practice space.
