Citizens' Assembly (Ireland)
The Citizens' Assembly ( and also known as We The Citizens) is a citizens' assembly established in Ireland in 2016 to consider several political questions including the Constitution of Ireland. Questions considered include: Abortion in the Republic of Ireland, abortion, fixed term parliaments, referendums in Ireland, referendums, population ageing, and climate change. Over 18 months a report is produced on each topic. The government is required to respond officially to the reports in the (parliament); responses have been given on three of the five topics. We, the Citizens! (Portuguese language, Portuguese: ''Nós, Cidadãos!)'' is a Portugal, Portuguese political party founded by members of the Portuguese Institute of Democracy (''Instituto Democracia Portuguesa'', IDP) after the large protest against the introduction of a single social tax in 2012. History IDP is a civic association founded in 2007 and advocating the need for a more democratic society, respecting the sovereignty of the people and the rule of law. The Taoiseach (, ) is the head of government or prime minister of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The 32nd Dáil was elected at the 2016 Irish general election, 2016 general election on 26 February and first met at 10.30 a.m. on 10 March 2016. In law, a resolution is a motion, often in writing, which has been adopted by a deliberative body (such as a corporations' board and or the house of a legislature). An alternate term for a resolution is a ''resolve''. In corporations In corporations, a written resolution is especially useful in the case of the board of directors of a corporation, which usually needs to give its consent to real estate purchases or sales by the corporation. Such a resolution, when certified by the corporation's secretary, gives assurance to the other side of the transaction that the sale was properly authorized. Damien English
Damien English (born 21 February 1978) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Meath West constituency from 2007 to 2024, and previously from 2002 to 2007 for the Meath constituency. He served as Minister of State from 2014 to 2023. Early and personal life English was educated at Bohermeen National School in County Meath, and went on to attend Kells Community School. Population Ageing
Population ageing is an overall change in the ages of a population. This can typically be summarised in a single parameter as an increase in the median age. Causes are a long-term decline in fertility rates and a decline in mortality rates. Most countries now have declining mortality rates and an ageing population: trends that emerged first in developed countries but are now also seen in virtually all developing countries. In most developed countries, population ageing started in the late 19th century. By the late 20th century, the world population as a whole was also ageing. The proportion of people aged 65 and above accounts for 6% of the total population. This reflects a historic overall decline in the world's average fertility rate.
