Chris Helme
Christopher Alan Helme (born 22 July 1971 in Howden, Yorkshire) is an English singer-songwriter, formerly the frontman of John Squire's post-Stone Roses band The Seahorses. History Early days (1990–1996) Helme began singing and performing at the age of 19, and began playing in pubs and folk clubs in his native York with his first band Daisy Space/Genuine Moon Material before forming folk-jazz band Chutzpah in 1993. The band regularly gigged at the White Swan Pub and Fibbers, where Helme worked behind the bar. In 1995 the band busked across rural France before splitting up (the band went on to reform in 2007 for a one-off gig at The White Swan). The Seahorses (1996–1999) A friend of John Squire's long-time guitar technician Martin Herbet discovered Helme busking outside Woolworths department store in York's Coney Street. Howden
Howden () is a market town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies in the Vale of York to the north of the M62 motorway, M62, on the A614 road about south-east of York and north of Goole, which lies across the River Ouse, Yorkshire, River Ouse. It is known for Howden Minster, one of the largest churches in the East Riding. William the Conqueror gave the town to the Bishop of Durham, Bishops of Durham in 1080. The wapentake of Howdenshire was named after the town, and remained an exclave of County Durham until as late as 1846. Stuart Fletcher (musician)
Stuart Michael Fletcher (born 16 January 1976 in York) is an English bass player. He is best known as the bassist in John Squire's post The Stone Roses band, The Seahorses. Prior to joining The Seahorses, Fletcher had been performing in local York bands since the age of 11. On 22 March 1996 Fletcher was spotted by Squire in the York venue Fibbers, where he was playing with local blues pub band The Blueflies. He was filling in for the band's usual bass player, who was unable to play due to repetitive strain injury. Following the gig, Fletcher was handed a cassette of demos Squire had recorded and asked to join the band. Since the demise of the band, Fletcher has continued to play with local York bands such as Hayley Hutchinson, The Yards featuring fellow ex-Seahorse Chris Helme, and Rick Witter's band, Rick Witter & The Dukes. Nine Black Alps
Nine Black Alps were an English alternative rock band, formed in 2003 in Manchester. From 2011 until their split, the band consisted of vocalist-guitarist Sam Forrest, guitarist David Jones, drummer James Galley and bassist Karl Astbury. Prior to becoming Nine Black Alps the band was originally called The Chelsea Girls, with Ilana Xup on bass duties. Once Xup moved to London in 2003, Martin joined the band as the bass player and the band then became Nine Black Alps. Xup's bassline features on 'Ilana Song', from the ''Shot Down'' EP, released in 2005. Taking their name from "The Couriers" poem by Sylvia Plath, the band came to prominence with the release of their debut album, '' Everything Is'' in 2005. Sam Forrest
Samuel Forrest (born 1977) is an English singer-songwriter, best known as the frontman of Nine Black Alps. He also co-fronts The Sorry Kisses with Hayley Hutchinson and previously played bass in the York-based group, The Halcyon Band. Forrest has previously released six solo albums, ''Down the Hillside'', ''Paper Crown'', ''No Imagination'', ''The Edge Of Nowhere'', ''Population 4000'' and ''Candlelightwater'' on Desert Mine Music. In 2016, Forrest formed a new band called Sewage Farm with bass player Danny Trew Barton and drummer Danny Hirst. The band released their debut album, ''Cloudy'', on Desert Mine Music in November 2016. Currently, Forrest has two active rock bands, the first being Sewage Farm. York Theatre Royal
York Theatre Royal is a theatre in St Leonard's Place, in York, England, which dates back to 1744. The theatre currently seats 750 people. Whilst the theatre is traditionally a proscenium theatre, it was reconfigured for a season in 2011 to offer productions in-the-round. The theatre puts on many of its own productions, as well as hosting touring companies, one of which is Pilot Theatre, a national touring company which often co-produces its work with the theatre. Additionally the main stage and studio are regularly used by local amateur dramatic and operatic societies. Andy Watts
The Seahorses were an English alternative rock band, formed in 1996 by guitarist John Squire, following his departure from The Stone Roses. The band released their debut album ''Do It Yourself'' in 1997, and began work on a follow-up before splitting up due to musical differences, during recording sessions in January 1999. Shed Seven
Shed Seven are an alternative rock band, formed in York in 1990. They were one of the groups which contributed to the Britpop music scene of the 1990s. They originally comprised singer Rick Witter, guitarist/keyboardist Joe Johnson, bassist Tom Gladwin and drummer Alan Leach. Johnson was later replaced by Paul Banks (musician, born 1973), Paul Banks, but a later line-up of the band included both Johnson and Banks. They have achieved 15 Top 40 singles and five Top 40 albums in the UK. The band officially broke up in 2003, but reformed for a greatest-hits tour in July 2007. Oasis (band)
Oasis are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals), Paul Arthurs, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (musician), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums). Anthony Edward Visconti (born April 24, 1944) is an American record producer, musician and singer. Since the late 1960s, he has worked with an array of performers. His first hit single was T. Rex's " Ride a White Swan" in 1970, the first of many hits in collaboration with Marc Bolan. Visconti's lengthiest involvement was with David Bowie: intermittently from the production and arrangement of Bowie's 1968 single "In the Heat of the Morning" / "London Bye Ta-Ta" to his final album '' Blackstar'' in 2016, Visconti produced and occasionally performed on many of Bowie's albums.
