China–India Railway or Sino Indian Railway () are a number of planned railways between China and India: * Shigatse-Yadong-Sikkim line: Most advanced in implementation, technically not entering India yet still bearing the name, 460 km standard gauge 120-160 km/h railway to link Yadong on Indo-Chinese border with current railhead Shigatse Railway Station, Tibet, and possibly onward with break of gauge (broad gauge) and continuing to Sikkim and beyond, subject to the India-China geopolitics. Trans-shipment land ports are proposed. This line may share a good part of its routing with China-Nepal railway towards Gyirong and Kathmandu. Following 2020 China–India skirmishes, China seems keen to hasten Tibet rail projects. Yadong
Yadong County (), also known by its Tibetan name Dromo/Tromo County () is a frontier county and trade-market of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, part of its Shigatse Prefecture. Yadong County is coextensive with the Chumbi valley that extends south into the Himalayas between Sikkim and Bhutan. It shares boundaries with both India and Bhutan. It covers about 4,306 square kilometers with a population of 10,000. Its headquarters is Yatung (also called Shasima). Geography The Yadong County mainly consists of the Chumbi Valley, called Dromo/Tromo in Tibetan. The valley is bordered by Dongkya Range in the west and Massong-Chungdung range in the east. Mandalay
Mandalay is the second-largest city in Myanmar, after Yangon. It is located on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River, 631 km (392 mi) north of Yangon. In 2014, the city had a population of 1,225,553. Mandalay was founded in 1857 by King Mindon Min, Mindon, replacing Amarapura as the new royal capital of the Konbaung dynasty. It was Burma's final royal capital before the kingdom's Third Anglo-Burmese War, annexation by the British Empire in 1885. Under British rule, Mandalay remained commercially and culturally important despite the rise of Yangon, the new capital of British Burma. The city suffered extensive destruction during the Japanese conquest of Burma in the World War II, Second World War. In 1948, Mandalay became part of the newly independent Union of Burma. Rail transport is an important mode of long-distance transportation in China. As of 2024, the country had more than of railways, the 2nd longest network in the world. By the end of 2023, China had more than of high-speed rail (HSR), the longest HSR network in the world. The railway sector in China is essentially operated by the central government. Almost all rail operations are handled by the China State Railway Group Company, Limited, a state-owned company created in March 2013 (as China Railway Corporation) after the dissolution of the Ministry of Railways. North Eastern Railway Connectivity Project is an multi phased railway connectivity project in Northeast India which comprises states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura and it also includes the state of Sikkim. India–China Border Roads (ICBRs, ICB Roads) is a Government of India project for developing infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control, Sino-Indian border by constructing strategic roads, including bridges and tunnels. Lhasa–Nyingchi Railway
The Lhasa–Nyingchi railway () also known as the Lalin Line (), is a single-track railway across the southeast Tibet, China, linking Lhasa and Nyingchi. It has a length of and a designed speed of per hour. The trains have been equipped with oxygen supply equipment. There are currently nine stations in the cities of Lhasa, Shannan, and Nyingchi that can handle both passengers and freight transportation.
