The Chevrolet (S-10) Blazer and its badge engineered GMC (S-15) Jimmy counterpart are compact/mid-size SUVs manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet and GMC from the 1983 through 2005 model years, over two generations – until the early 1990s alongside these brands' full-size SUVs with near identical nameplates, but lacking removable hardtops. From the 1992 model year, GMC's full-size Jimmy had become the "Yukon", and so, the S-15 prefix was dropped on the smaller GMC Jimmy. Chevrolet K5 Blazer
The Chevrolet K5 Blazer is a SUV#Full-size SUV, full-size sport-utility vehicle (SUV) that was marketed by Chevrolet from the 1969 to 1994 model years. A variant of the Chevrolet C/K, C/K truck line, the K5 Blazer is a shortened version of the half-ton pickup line. For its first two generations, the model line was a half-cab pickup truck fitted with a removable rear top (effectively making it a three-door station wagon); the final generation was fitted with permanent rear bodywork. Initially offered solely as a 4x4, the K5 Blazer was also marketed with a rear-wheel drive configuration. Moraine Assembly
Moraine Assembly was a General Motors automobile factory in Moraine, Ohio, United States, a suburb of Dayton, Ohio, Dayton. A Frigidaire appliance plant had originally operated on the site from 1951 to 1979. Starting in 1981, the Chevrolet S-10 small pickup was produced. This same model was produced by Shreveport Operations, Shreveport Assembly. In 1987 through 1994 the plant produced the rolling chassis for the Grumman LLV Postal Vehicle. From 2001 through 2008, the plant produced the GM GMT platform#GMT 360, GMT360 Sport utility vehicle, SUVs. The plant was closed in December 2008. In 2014, the facilities were acquired by Fuyao Group, Fuyao Glass to produce glass for vehicles. Shreveport Operations
Shreveport Operations, officially the Shreveport Assembly and Stamping Plant, was a General Motors vehicle factory in Shreveport, Louisiana. The factory opened in 1981 and produced the company's compact pickup trucks alongside the Moraine Assembly in Dayton, Ohio. At one point, 3,000 employees were on the payroll. Construction of the plant began in 1978, with an expansion in 2002 that included a new stamping facility. The plant closed in August 2012 with the last truck produced being a white Chevrolet Colorado. On the front of the vehicle, a banner read "4,853,693rd". At that time, just over 800 hourly and salaried workers were employed there. Elio Motors had announced plans to begin using the facility in 2014 to manufacture a new three-wheeled vehicle. Pontiac West Assembly (also known as GMC Truck & Coach, GM Truck Validation Center and Pontiac Centerpoint Campus Validation Center) was a General Motors manufacturing facility located in Pontiac, Michigan. The manufacturing complex occupied an irregular 82-acre site bounded on the North side by Rapid Street, on the South side by South Boulevard W, on the East side by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad/Woodward Avenue (U.S. Route 24), and on the West side by Franklin Road. The complex included GMC Truck & Coach Plant 1, 3, 4 and 5, as well as numerous administrative and support buildings.
