Mount Chevalier
Mount Chevalier is a mountain in Canterbury, New Zealand. Description Mount Chevalier is part of the Two Thumb Range which is a subrange of the Southern Alps. It is located west of the city of Christchurch in the Canterbury Region of the South Island. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains west into the Macaulay River and east into North East Gorge Stream, which is a tributary of the Macaulay. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises above the Macaulay Valley in three kilometres. The nearest higher neighbour is Achilles Peak, six kilometres to the east. The mountain's toponym was applied by Julius von Haast to honour Nicholas Chevalier (1828–1902), a Russian-born artist who visited New Zealand in 1865. Jules Chevalier, MSC (15 March 1824 – 21 October 1907) was a French Catholic priest and founder of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, along with their lay associates, known collectively as the Chevalier Family. Biography Born in Richelieu, France, Chevalier was initially apprenticed as a shoemaker at age 12 after he was told his parents could not afford to send him to the seminary. He was later able to join the seminary, after his father's boss sponsored him and at the age of 30 was sent to the parish of Issoudun. In 1854 he founded the religious institute of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, and in 1874 the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. is a Japanese anime television series produced by Production I.G based on an original story by Tow Ubukata. The anime originally aired in Japan on WOWOW from August 19, 2006, to February 2, 2007. The story has also been adapted into a manga series written by Tow Ubukata and illustrated by Kiriko Yumeji, which was first published in 2005. The title character is loosely based on the historical figure Chevalier d'Éon, who lived in the middle of 18th-century, Ancien Régime, pre-Revolutionary France under the reign of Louis XV of France, Louis XV.
