''Chants et contes de Noël'' (English: "Christmas songs and tales") is the fifth French-language studio album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released in Quebec, Canada on 3 December 1983. It is also her second Christmas album. ADISQ (; ) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the independent record labels, independent music industry in Quebec. It was created in 1978. André Pascal (15 April 1932 – 26 April 2001), born André Pascal Nicolas di Fusco in Marseille, was a French songwriter and composer. History As an adolescent he was already well versed in French poetry from François Villon to Alfred de Vigny. He could express himself in Alexandrian couplets, and he started to write. A few years later he was adapting well known French songs for his friends in a restaurant trade who would play them on their premises. It was at this time in 1957 that he met Charles Aznavour who gave him the idea of trying to cut out a living in Paris. He wrote his first songs with Paul Mauriat. In 1958 they were prizewinners in le Coq d'or De La Chanson Francaise in Paris with ''Rendez-vous au Lavandou'' which was recorded by Dalida and Henri Salvador, to name but two. The "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is an American patriotic music, American patriotic song written by the abolitionist writer Julia Ward Howe during the American Civil War. Howe adapted her song from the soldiers' song "John Brown's Body" in November 1861, and sold it for $4 to ''The Atlantic Monthly'' in February 1862. Andrew Gerard Hill (born 1957) is an English record producer and songwriter who worked with Bucks Fizz (band), Bucks Fizz and Celine Dion during the 1980s and 1990s. On many of his compositions he was partnered by lyricist Peter Sinfield, who had formerly worked with King Crimson. He has been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award on seven occasions, and has won the award twice in the category "Best Song Musically and Lyrically" and once for "Songwriter of the Year". Peter John Sinfield (27 December 1943 – 14 November 2024) was an English poet and songwriter. He was best known as a co-founder and lyricist of King Crimson. Their debut album '' In the Court of the Crimson King'' is considered one of the first and most influential progressive rock albums ever released. Sinfield's lyrics are known for their surreal imagery, often involving common fantasy concepts, nature, or the sea. They often also deal with emotional concepts and, sometimes, storyline concepts. Robert Wells (born Robert Levinson, October 15, 1922 – September 23, 1998) was an American songwriter, composer, screenwriter and television producer. During his early career, he collaborated with Mel Tormé, writing several hit songs, most notably "The Christmas Song" in 1945. Later, he became a prolific writer and producer for television, for such shows as '' The Dinah Shore Chevy Show'', as well as for numerous variety specials, such as ''If They Could See Me Now'', starring Shirley MacLaine. "The Christmas Song" (commonly subtitled "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" or, as it was originally subtitled, "Merry Christmas to You") is a Christmas song written in 1945 by Robert Wells (songwriter), Robert Wells and Mel Tormé. The Nat King Cole Trio first recorded the song in June 1946. At Cole's behestand over the objections of his label, Capitol Recordsa second recording was made in August utilizing a small string section. This version became a massive hit on both the Pop music, pop and R&B charts. Yvan Ducharme
Yvan Ducharme was a québécois actor (24 August 1937, in Rouyn-Noranda – 21 March 2013, in Laval, Quebec). Biography Ducharme was first known to the public thanks to his creation of ''Insolences d'un téléphone'' shown during the day in 1963 on CJMS in Montreal for more than a decade. He became popular on Quebec television with the role of the father in '' Les Berger'' and won many awards including ''Monsieur Télévision'' in 1972. Ducharme also painted for many years in his apartment in Montreal. He created his own abstract style which he named "impulsionnism". The most recent creations of Yvan Ducharme were shown in Montreal in February 2007, in Longueuil in May 2007, and in Rouyn-Noranda, his place of birth, in August 2007. Mitchell Parish (born Michael Hyman Pashelinsky; July 10, 1900 – March 31, 1993) was an American lyricist, notably as a writer of songs for stage and screen. Biography Parish was born to a Jewish family in Lithuania, Russian Empire in July 1900. His family emigrated to the United States, arriving on February 3, 1901 aboard the when he was less than a year old. They settled first in Louisiana where his paternal grandmother had relatives, but later moved to New York City, where he grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and received his education in the public schools.
