Cerová Vrchovina
Cerová () is a village and municipality in Senica District in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. The village is divided into three parts: Cerová (), Lieskové (), and Rozbehy (). History It was first mentioned in 1324 as ''Korlathkeu''. Geography The municipality lies at an altitude of 248 metres and covers an area of 21.880 km2. It has a population of about 1265 people. Trnava Region
The Trnava Region (, ; ; ) is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions. It was established in 1996, before which date, most of its districts were parts of Bratislava Region which was established on the founding of Czechoslovakia in 1923. It consists of 251 municipalities, from which 16 have a town status. It is the second most densely populated region in Slovakia. Geography In the lower, west part of Slovakia, the Trnava region forms a territorial band between the Bratislava Region and the rest of Slovakia, between Austrian and Czech borders in the north and north-west and the Hungarian border in the south. Senica District (''okres Senica'') is a district in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. The district is relatively rich in natural resources oil, gas, lignite. Slovak Car Registration Plates
Vehicles registered in Slovakia were generally assigned to one of the districts (''okres'') and from 1997 until 2022, the license plate coding () generally consisted of seven characters and takes the form XX-NNNLL, where XX was a two letter code corresponding to the district, NNN was a three digit number and LL were two additional letters (assigned alphabetically). From January 2023, a new state-wide numbering scheme was introduced, preserving the same layout, but replacing the initial two-letter district code with arbitrary letters of the alphabet (assigned alphabetically, starting with AA). Area is the measure of a region's size on a surface. Kaneenika Janakova
Kaneenika Janakova (born as Tereza Janáková, 1970) is an ultra-distance runner and comes from Cerová near Senica, Slovakia. She has lived in New York for ten years. Janakova is a disciple of Sri Chinmoy. Because of him, she adopted the name Kaneenika which is a Sanskrit word meaning "vision beauty of the inner eye". Biography In primary school, she didn't run very well, but when she went to high school during socialism she got a gold badge. Her first marathon in 1996 wasn't her best performance, it took her 4 hours and 45 minutes. At the Košický marathon, she was getting better with a time of 4:05. Then she dared to go for longer runs. Between the years 1998 and 2014 she ran 6, 12, 24 and 48-hour races. In 2001, she tried 6-day races for the first time. Later she added a 700-mile race, a 1000-mile race and 10-day races. John Bukovsky
John Bukovsky ( Slovak: Ján Bukovský), SVD, named Ján Fukna at birth (18 January 1924 – 18 December 2010), was a Slovakia-born American prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Bukovsky was born in Cerová, Slovakia, on 18 January 1924, the fourth of six children. He entered the Society of the Divine Word seminary in Nitra, Czechoslovakia, in 1939. The Society sent him to the United States for additional studies in 1947. Ordered to return to Czechoslovakia when the new Communist government revoked his passport, he instead with the help of Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley reentered the U.S. from Canada as a legal immigrant. He was ordained in December 1950 in Techny, Illinois, as a priest of the Divine Word Missionaries and became a U.S. citizen a few years later.
