''Ceol'' is an Irish compilation album series released annually between 2005 and 2018. Published as part of ''Seachtain na Gaeilge'', the albums contain works in the Irish language by various Irish artists. Releases Ceol '06 ''Ceol 06'' is a 26-track double album of songs in Irish language, Irish, released in March 2006 to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. It includes contributions from acts such as The Corrs and The Frames. The songs – many of them written in Irish, others translated from English – include Mundy's reinvention of his hit, "Mexico". All acts gave their time free of charge, with profits going to the charity Concern Worldwide, Concern. Susan McKeown (born February 6, 1967) is an Irish folk singer, songwriter, arranger and producer. She won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album as a member of The Klezmatics. Early years Susan McKeown was born on February 6, 1967, in Terenure, Dublin, Ireland. She briefly attended the Municipal College of Music, Chatham Row, Dublinnow incorporated into the Dublin Institute of Technology)as a teenager before abandoning a potential career in opera order to sing folk and rock. Together with John Doyle, McKeown formed The Chanting House in 1989. Roesy , from Birr, County Offaly, is an Irish singer-songwriter. Career His debut album "Sketch the Day, Paint the Night" (2001) was followed by "The Spirit Store" in 2003 and "Only Love is Real" in 2004. These albums were released on his Birr-based label Blue Cloak Records. The Pale (band)
The Pale are an Irish band of varying genres including rock, and indie. They have recorded twelve albums and have toured extensively in Ireland and abroad. Formation and early years The Pale formed in Dublin in 1990 with the original line-up settling as Matthew Devereux on vocals, Shane Wearen on mandolin, Sean Molloy on bass. The band honed their musical and performance skills by busking on Dublin's Grafton street, alongside fellow Irish musicians, Kila, Paddy Casey, Mic Christopher and Glen Hansard. They began their live career with a residency in the International Bar in Dublin. One feature that distinguished the early Pale from other bands was their decision to use a drum machine instead of a drummer. Rónán Ó Snodaigh
Rónán Ó Snodaigh (born 1 January 1970 in Dublin, Ireland) is a songwriter, composer, musician, poet and founding member and lead vocalist in the musical group Kíla. He has revolutionised the playing of the bodhrán and written many songs in Irish and English. He has written and released seven solo albums. Amongst the many percussion instruments Ó Snodaigh plays are bodhrán, djembe, congas, and bongos. As regards stringed instruments he plays the guitar and to a lesser extent the harp. He is the second youngest of six boys born to historian and publisher Pádraig Ó Snodaigh and sculptor Cliodhna Cussen. John Spillane
John Spillane (born 1961) is a singer-songwriter from Cork, Ireland. Musical collaborations and beginnings In Spillane's early career he was involved with several bands but most notably were Nomos and The Stargazers. Playing with whistle player Noel Shine, Spillane spent several years playing with the local jazz vocal group The Stargazers. It was at this time he studied in UCC obtaining a degree in Irish and English. Spillane toured with the band Nomos and contributed songs. The Waterboys
The Waterboys are a rock band formed in 1983 by Scottish musician and songwriter Mike Scott (Scottish musician), Mike Scott. The band's membership, past and present, has been composed mainly of musicians from Britain and Ireland, with Scott remaining the only constant member. Over a four-decade career, the band has drawn on multiple styles of music including punk rock, rock and roll, folk music (in particular Irish and Scottish music), Celtic soul, noise rock, country music, rhythm & blues and chamber music. Luka Bloom (born Kevin Barry Moore; 23 May 1955) is an Irish folk singer-songwriter. He is the younger brother of folk singer Christy Moore. Early life Kevin Barry Moore was born on 23 May 1955 in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. His parents were Andy Moore and Nancy Power, who had already raised three daughters and two other sons. Moore attended a Patrician Brothers primary school and later studied at Newbridge College. In college he formed the group Aes Triplex with his brother Andy and a school friend.
