The Fatah Central Committee is the highest decision-making body of the Palestinian organization and political party, Fatah. History The first Fatah Central Committee was formed in February 1963, consisting of ten members, including Yasser Arafat, Khalil al-Wazir, Salah Khalaf, and Khaled al-Hassan. Arafat and al-Wazir, who lobbied for increased personal responsibility, primarily faced opposition from al-Hassan who opposed premature military action against Israel which the former two advocated.Atkins, p.95. The establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1964 severely undermined Fatah, with 80% of its members joining the PLO's armed wing, the Palestinian Liberation Army. Azzam Al-Ahmad
Azzam al-Ahmad (; born 24 November 1947) is a Palestinian politician, economist and diplomat. He holds a BA in economics from Baghdad University and has held various significant positions throughout his career. Saeb Erekat
Saeb Muhammad Salih Erekat ( ''Ṣāʼib ʻUrayqāt''; also ''ʻRēqāt, Erikat, Erakat, Arekat''; 28 April 195510 November 2020) was a Palestinian politician and diplomat who was the secretary general of the executive committee of the PLO from 2015 until his death in 2020. General Tawfik Mohammed Hussein al-Tirawi (born 15 November 1948, ) is a Palestinian official affiliated with Fatah. Mahmoud Aloul
Mahmoud al-Aloul () (born 11 December 1950) is a Palestinian politician who formerly served as the governor of the Palestinian Authority's Nablus governorate in the Central Highlands of the West Bank from 1995 to 2005. Al-Aloul was elected to the Central Committee of Fatah in August 2009 during the 6th General Conference, and later became Vice Chairman following the 7th General Conference held in 2016. In early 2018, he was widely discussed as the likely successor to Mahmoud Abbas as President of the Palestinian National Authority. Mohammad Ibrahim Shtayyeh (; born 17 January 1958) is a Palestinian politician, academic, and economist who served as Prime Minister of the State of Palestine and the Palestinian National Authority from 2019 to 2024.
