Catalunya En Comú
Catalunya en Comú (, CatEnComú or CatComú), previously Un País en Comú () and collectively dubbed as Comuns (), is a Catalan-based political party established in December 2016 as an umbrella for Barcelona en Comú, Initiative for Catalonia Greens (ICV), United and Alternative Left (EUiA) and Equo, which until then had been collaborating through electoral alliances under the Catalunya Sí que es Pot and En Comú Podem labels in the September 2015 regional and December 2015 and June 2016 general elections. Its spokesman until 2018 was En Comú Podem's spokesperson in the Congress of Deputies, Xavier Domènech, with the new party being sponsored by Mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau. Ada Colau
Ada Colau Ballano ( ; born 3 March 1974) is a Spanish activist and politician who was Mayor of Barcelona between 2015 and 2023. On 13 June 2015 she was elected Mayor of Barcelona, the first woman to hold the office, as part of the citizen municipalist platform, Barcelona en Comú, Barcelona En Comú. Colau was one of the founding members and spokespeople of the Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca, Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca (PAH) (''Platform for People Affected by Mortgages''), which was set up in Barcelona in 2009 in response to the rise in evictions caused by unpaid mortgage loans and the collapse of the Spanish property market in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. The 2015 Catalan regional election was held on Sunday, 27 September 2015, electing the 11th Parliament of Catalonia, Parliament of the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of Catalonia. Catalunya Sí que es Pot (, also translated as "Catalonia It Is Possible" or "Yes, Catalonia Can") was a left-wing coalition composed of Podemos, Initiative for Catalonia Greens (ICV) and United and Alternative Left United and Alternative Left (, EUiA) is a political party in Catalonia, Spain. An electoral alliance (also known as a bipartisan electoral agreement, electoral pact, electoral agreement, electoral coalition or electoral bloc) is an association of political parties or individuals that exists solely to stand in elections. Equo
Greens Equo (GQ) and formerly EQUO, is a Spanish political party founded on 4 June 2011, when 35 Spanish green parties agreed to merge into Equo. It began as a foundation on 24 September 2010 with the goal of becoming "the seed and source of debate about political ecology and social equity, originating a sociopolitical movement". United and Alternative Left (, EUiA) is a political party in Catalonia, Spain. EUiA has 4000 members, and until 2019 was the Catalan correspondent of the Spain-wide United Left (IU). It was formed in 1998 as a schism from Initiative for Catalonia Greens (ICV). It comprises an alliance of Party of the Communists of Catalonia, Living Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia, POR, PRT-IR, PASOC, CEA, and CLI. Initiative For Catalonia Greens
Initiative for Catalonia Greens (, ICV; ) was an eco-socialist political party in Catalonia. It was formed as a merger of Iniciativa per Catalunya and Els Verds. IC had been an alliance led by Partit Socialista Unificat de Catalunya and was the equivalent of Izquierda Unida in Catalonia. IC later developed into a political party, and PSUC was dissolved. The youth of ICV was called ''Joves d'Esquerra Verda'' (Green Left Youth). It used to be called JambI, ''Joves amb Iniciativa'' (Youth with Initiative).
