Hans Müller (director)
Hans Müller (1909-1977) was a German film and television director. Following a documentary about his hometown Lüdenscheid and recordings for the newsreel, Müller went to Berlin in 1933 and worked at the UFA as an assistant director in over a dozen films, including under the directors Werner Hochbaum and Arthur Maria Rabenalt. In 1944, his first self-directed film, ''Turmoil of the Hearts,'' was released by the UFA subsidiary Terra-Filmkunst, starring Lotte Koch, Rudolf Prack and OE Hasse . After the end of the Second World War, when the Berlin studios were largely destroyed, he shot the film ''And One Day We Will Find Ourselves Again'' at Altena Castle with Käthe Haack, Paul Dahlke and Lutz Moik, among others. This is a list, in year order, of the most notable films produced in the Soviet Occupation Zone of Germany and the socialist German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) from 1945 until German Reunification in October 1990. The state owned East German film company DEFA produced about 800 feature films between 1946 and 1992. Besides DEFA, the state broadcaster DFF and the Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst (now the Filmuniversität Babelsberg) were the only other organizations in the GDR that produced feature films for cinematic release, although far fewer than DEFA. DEFA also produced about 750 animated movies and more than 2500 documentaries and short films. DEFA feature films are accessible and licensable as part of DEFA's entire film heritage on the PROGRESS archive platform. Hans Klering
Hans Karl Klering (8 November 1906 – 30 October 1988) was a German actor, director, voice actor, graphic designer and author. He joined the Communist Party and went into exile in the Soviet Union in 1931, returning to Germany in 1945. In 1946, he became a co-founder of DEFA, the East German state-owned film studio, as well as one of its directors and board members. Biographical details Hans Klering was married to Else Korén and Antonia Nizkowskaja. Born in Berlin, he apprenticed himself from 1921 to 1924. However, he became unemployed at the end. Later, he worked on the docks as a sign painter. In 1926, he joined the Communist Party of Germany. He was a member of several agitprop theater groups in Cologne and Berlin, including the ''Rote Raketen'' (Red Rocket), ''Blaue Blusen'' (Blue Blouse), and the Left Column.
