Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB; ) is the local health board of NHS Wales for Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan, in the South-east Wales, south-east of Wales. Formed on 1 October 2009 through the amalgamation of three NHS organisations in the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan area. The three organisations amalgamated were: ''Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust'', employing 12,000 staff and previously responsibility for hospital services in the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan area; ''Cardiff Local Health Board''; and ''Vale of Glamorgan Local Health Board'' both responsible for GP, Dental, Optical and pharmacy services. The Welsh Gender Service (WGS) is a Gender Identity Clinic that specialises in gender-affirming healthcare for transgender and gender diverse adults in Wales. It was launched in 2019 by Health Secretary, Vaughan Gething. History Campaigners had been petitioning for a Welsh specific clinic for years, due to a number of issues. This included GPs being unable to directly refer patients to the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust's clinic in London, causing some patients to wait over a year for their referral to be made. Campaigners argued a Welsh clinic would free up capacity at the London clinic, lowering wait times. Patients also complained of the long travel times to be seen for appointments that lasted only half an hour. Barry (; ; ) is a town and community in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is on the north coast of the Bristol Channel approximately south-southwest of Cardiff. Colcot is a northern district of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, in the Dyfan ward of South Wales. Dyfan ward is situated in the north west of Barry and its most northern edge is on the green belt of the town. Hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT) is the transplantation of multipotent hematopoietic stem cells, usually derived from bone marrow, peripheral blood, or umbilical cord blood, in order to replicate inside a patient and produce additional normal blood cells.
