Cantiere Internazionale D'Arte
The (International Art Workshop) is an annual international summer school and musical festival for young singers, actors, musicians, conductors and composers. It was set up in Montepulciano, Italy, in 1976 by Hans Werner Henze. Several works received their world premieres at the festival. History Hans Werner Henze founded the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano, Tuscany, in 1976. Productions of concerts and theatre are prepared in the summer school and then played at the festival. Participants do not receive fees, but food and accommodation. Among the venues is the historic . Since November 2005 the workshop has been organised by the Fondazione Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte di Montepulciano, run by the town, and by the Province of Siena. Roland Böer became musical director in 2009, and was artistic director from 2015 to 2020. Vincent Monteil followed as the artistic director. Montepulciano
Montepulciano () is a medieval and Renaissance hill town and ''comune'' in the Italian province of Siena in southern Tuscany. It sits high on a limestone ridge, east of Pienza, southeast of Siena, southeast of Florence, and north of Rome by car. Montepulciano is a wine-producing region. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has Denominazione di origine controllata e garantita status and is, with the Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico, one of the principal red wines of Tuscany. Hans Werner Henze
Hans Werner Henze (1 July 1926 – 27 October 2012) was a German composer. His large List of compositions by Hans Werner Henze, oeuvre is extremely varied in style, having been influenced by serialism, atonality, Igor Stravinsky, Stravinsky, Music of Italy, Italian music, Arabic music and jazz, as well as traditional schools of German composition. In particular, his stage works reflect "his consistent cultivation of music for the theatre throughout his life". Henze was also known for his political convictions. He left Germany for Italy in 1953 because of a perceived intolerance towards his Left-wing politics, leftist politics and homosexuality. Late in life he lived in the village of Marino, Lazio, Marino in the central Italian region of Lazio, and in his final years still travelled extensively, in particular to Britain and Germany, as part of his work. Roland Böer
Roland Böer (6 December 1970) is a German conductor with a focus on opera. He has worked at leading European opera houses, including the Oper Frankfurt where he began as répétiteur in 1996, was Kapellmeister from 2002 to 2008, and has often appeared as a guest. He was artistic director of the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano from 2015 to 2020. Life and career Böer was born in Bad Homburg. He studied music at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, with a focus on conducting with Günther Wich. He was répétiteur at the Oper Frankfurt and musical director of the Kammeroper Frankfurt from 1996 to 1999. He then moved to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where he also conducted. He was an assistant of Antonio Pappano in productions of the Bayreuth Festival, La Monnaie in Brussels and the Royal Opera House in London. Vincent Monteil
Vincent Monteil (born 1964) is a French conductor. He was born in Angers. Education Monteil studied in several national conservatories in France before completing a degree in musicology at the Sorbonne University in Paris and beginning his conducting training with Maestros Gérard Devos and Pierre Dervaux. From 1991 to 1996, Vincent Monteil was assistant conductor at the Toulouse Capitole Opera, where he studied thoroughly French Music with Michel Plasson. This tenure gave him the opportunity to work with conductors such as Friedemann Layer, Maurizio Arena, Richard Bradshaw, Woldemar Nelsson and Donato Renzetti, and singers such as Roberto Alagna, José van Dam, Jean-Philippe Lafont, Leontina Vaduva, Nuccia Focile, Françoise Pollet, and Catherine Malfitano. Detlev Glanert
Detlev Glanert (born 6 September 1960) is a Opera in German, German opera composer, who has also composed numerous works for chamber and full orchestra, including three symphonies. Biography Detlev Glanert was born in Hamburg in 1960. He came to music late, learning his first instrument, the trumpet, at the age of eleven and not starting his formal composition studies until his twenties, when he studied under Diether de la Motte, Günther Friedrichs and Frank Michael Beyer, and then for four years under Hans Werner Henze in Cologne. Having seen his first operas in Hamburg in 1972, ''The Magic Flute'', and then ''Die Soldaten'', he has said that from the first moment he loved opera. The Oper Frankfurt (Frankfurt Opera) is a German opera company based in Frankfurt.
