Cant Del Barça
"Cant del Barça" (; ) is the official anthem of FC Barcelona. It was commissioned in 1974 to celebrate the club's 75th anniversary. The lyrics were written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs and the music was composed by Manuel Valls. The hymn was given its official debut on 27 November 1974 at Camp Nou before a game between FC Barcelona and East Germany. A 3,500 strong choir was conducted by Oriol Martorell. Josep Maria Espinàs Massip (; 7 March 1927 – 5 February 2023) was a Spanish writer, journalist and publisher known for his novels, travel writing and newspaper articles. Author of an extensive body of literature, Espinàs was honored with the Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes, the Premi Joanot Martorell, the Premi Sant Jordi and the Premi Víctor Català. In the 1960s he played a key role in the development of the Nova Cançó movement, co-founding the musical group Els Setze Jutges. Espinàs cowrote, with Jaume Picas, the lyrics to the official anthem of FC Barcelona, ''El Cant del Barça''. Biography Espinàs was born on 7 March 1927 in the city of Barcelona. Manuel Valls (composer)
Manuel Valls i Gorina (; 21 July 1920 – 1984) was a Catalan people, Catalan composer, pianist, music critic, and music educator. Valls was born in Badalona. He was a first cousin of painter Xavier Valls, himself the father of former French Prime Minister Manuel Valls. He studied at the University of Barcelona and the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu. At the Liceu he was mentored by Aita Donostia with whom he studied music theory, music composition, and orchestration. He became a successful composer writing symphony, symphonic works, chamber music, choral music, operas, art songs, and songs for solo piano. For many years he taught composition at the University of Barcelona and wrote music reviews for ''El País''. He died in Barcelona. Oriol Martorell i Codina (1927 in Barcelona – 1996) was a musical director, pedagogue and professor of history. He was the son of Artur Martorell i Bisbal, also a renowned pedagogue. Joan Manuel Serrat Teresa (; born 27 December 1943) is a Spanish musician, singer, and composer. He is considered one of the most important figures of modern, popular music in both Spanish and Catalan languages. Serrat's lyrical style has been influenced by other poets such as Mario Benedetti, Antonio Machado, Miguel Hernández, Rafael Alberti, Federico García Lorca, Pablo Neruda, and León Felipe.
