These are the results of the men's C-2 slalom competition in canoeing at the 2000 Summer Olympics. The C-2 (canoe single) event is raced by two-man canoes through a whitewater course. The venue for the 2000 Olympic competition was at Penrith Whitewater Stadium The Penrith Whitewater Stadium is located near Sydney, Australia. The combined score of both runs counted for the event with the top eight advancing to the final the following day. Slalom Canoeing
Canoe slalom (previously known as whitewater slalom) is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on Whitewater, river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics, and is referred to by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Canoe/Kayak Slalom. The other Olympic canoeing discipline is canoe sprint. Wildwater canoeing is a non-Olympic paddlesport. History Canoe slalom racing started in Switzerland in 1933, initially on a flatwater course. In 1946, the International Canoe Federation (ICF), which governs the sport, was formed. The first World Championships were held in 1949 in Switzerland. Michael Senft
Michael Senft (born 28 September 1972 in Bad Kreuznach) is a German slalom canoeist who competed from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s (decade). Competing in three Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal in the C2 event in 1996 in Atlanta. Senft also won six medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold (C2: 2005), three silvers (C2: 1997, C2 team: 2002, 2003) and two bronzes (C2 team: 1995, 1997). He earned three more medals at the European Championships (1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze). His partner in the boat for most of his career was André Ehrenberg.
