Canoeing At The 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's Slalom C-1
These are the results of the men's C-1 slalom competition in canoeing at the 2004 Summer Olympics. The C-1 (canoe single) event is raced by one-man canoes through a whitewater course. Slalom Canoeing
Canoe slalom (previously known as whitewater slalom) is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on Whitewater, river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics, and is referred to by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Canoe/Kayak Slalom. The other Olympic canoeing discipline is canoe sprint. Wildwater canoeing is a non-Olympic paddlesport. History Canoe slalom racing started in Switzerland in 1933, initially on a flatwater course. Simon Hočevar
Simon Hočevar (born 27 February 1974 in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1990 to 2012. Hočevar won three medals in the C1 team event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold (1993) and two bronzes (1997, 2002). He also won three medals at the European Championships (1 gold and 2 bronzes).
