Cannabis in Malta is decriminalised, within limits, to grow, use, and possess for adults. In 2018, the Parliament of Malta legalised medical cannabis, but only for resident of Malta with subscription from a local doctor. Permission of medical weed from another country is not acceptable in Malta. On 14 December 2021, the Parliament of Malta decriminalised recreational cannabis for personal possession and use for those aged 18-years-old and over, becoming the first EU country to do so. Å»ebbuÄ¡ ( ), also known by its title Città Rohan, is a city in the Western Region of Malta. It is one of the oldest towns in the country, and its population is 11,074 as of June 2021. Nabiximols ( USAN), sold under the brand name Sativex, is a specific ''Cannabis'' extract that was approved in 2010 as a botanical drug in the United Kingdom. Nabiximols is sold as a mouth spray intended to alleviate neuropathic pain, spasticity, overactive bladder, and other symptoms of multiple sclerosis; it was developed by the UK company GW Pharmaceuticals. Robert Abela (born 7 December 1977) is a Maltese lawyer and politician who has served as prime minister of Malta and leader of the Malta Labour Party since 2020. George William Vella (born 24 April 1942) is a Maltese politician who served as the 10th president of Malta from 2019 to 2024.
