Canik Arms
CANiK is a Turkish firearms manufacturer operating under the Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) Company. It was established in 1998 as part of the Eastern Black Sea Arms Project. The company's headquarters is located in Istanbul and its production facility is located in Samsun on the Black Sea coast. The arms are used in 69 countries by law enforcement, civilians and competition shooters. The company is known for its TP9 (Tactical Pistol 9 mm) series pistols. As of 2021, the company is the 7th largest small arms producer in the world. A firearm is any type of gun that uses an explosive charge and is designed to be readily carried and operated by an individual. The term is legally defined further in different countries (see legal definitions). The first firearms originated in 10th-century China, when bamboo tubes containing gunpowder and pellet projectiles were mounted on spears to make the portable fire lance, operable by a single person, which was later used effectively as a shock weapon in the siege of De'an in 1132.
