Dagoberto Campaneris Blanco (born March 9, 1942), nicknamed "Bert" or "Campy", is a Cuban Americans, Cuban American former professional baseball shortstop, who played Major League Baseball (MLB) for four American League (AL) teams, primarily the Oakland Athletics, Kansas City / Oakland Athletics. One of the mainstays of the Athletics' championship teams of 1972 to 1974, he holds the A's franchise records for career games played (1795), hit (baseball), hits (1882), and At bat, at bats (7180). In 2019, Campaneris was inducted into the Oakland Athletics#Achievements, Athletics Hall of Fame. Campaneris led the AL in Stolen base, stolen bases six times between 1965 and 1972 and retired with the seventh-most steals in MLB history (649). Roy Campanella
Roy Campanella (November 19, 1921 – June 26, 1993), nicknamed "Campy", was an American professional baseball player, primarily as a catcher. The Philadelphia native played in the Negro leagues and Mexican League for nine years before entering the minor leagues in 1946. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 1948 for the Brooklyn Dodgers, for whom he played until 1957. His playing career ended when he was paralyzed in an automobile crash in January of 1958. He is considered one of the greatest catchers in the history of the game. After he retired as a player as a result of the accident, Campanella held positions in scouting and community relations with the Dodgers. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969. Michael Campanella "Campy" Russell (born January 12, 1952) is an American former professional basketball player. He played the forward position in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks for nine years (1975–1982, 1985) and played in the 1979 NBA All-Star Game. Lee Michael John Camp (born 22 August 1984) is a former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. After a spell as a youth coach at Blackpool, he became Professional Development Phase Coach at Accrington Stanley. Camp started his professional career with Derby County in 2002, having progressed through the club's youth ranks. ''Campylobacter'' is a type of bacteria that can cause a diarrheal disease in people. Its name means "curved bacteria", as the germ typically appears in a comma or "s" shape.
