Cambridge Programme For Sustainability Leadership
The Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), formerly the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership and the Cambridge Programme for Industry, is part of the University of Cambridge. The institute works with leaders to tackle critical global challenges through action research, convening business groups and executive education. It has centres in Cambridge, Cape Town, and Brussels. Polly Courtice was founder director of the institute from 1989 to 2021. King Charles III is its patron. History The Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership was founded in 1989. It was formerly known as the Cambridge Programme for Industry, and then Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership. John Egan (industrialist)
Sir John Leopold Egan (born 7 November 1939) is a British industrialist, associated with businesses in the automotive, airports, construction and water industries. He was chief executive and chairman of Jaguar Cars from 1980 to 1990 and chairman of Jaguar plc from 1985 to 1990, and then served as chief executive of BAA from 1990 to 1999. He is also notable for chairing the construction industry task force that produced the 1998 Egan Report (''Rethinking Construction'') and the follow-up report, ''Accelerating Change'', in 2002. The University of Cambridge's Department of Engineering is the largest department at the university. The main site is situated at Trumpington Street, to the south of the city centre of Cambridge. Povl Ahm
Povl Ahm (26 September 1926 – 15 May 2005) was a structural engineer and former chairman of Ove Arup & Partners. Life Born in Aarhus, Denmark, Ahm attended the Polyteknisk Læreanstalt in Copenhagen, from where he graduated in 1949. Ahm married Birgit Moller in 1953, with whom he had two sons, Carsten Ahm and Peter Ahm. He was a keen sportsman, and a good footballer. He played for the London amateur team Corinthian-Casuals and played in the 1956 Amateur Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. He died of cancer on 15 May 2005. Career He joined the firm Ove Arup and Partners in London in 1952, where he worked on Coventry Cathedral with Basil Spence. Philip Dowson
Sir Philip Henry Manning Dowson (16 August 1924 – 22 August 2014) was a leading British architect. He served as President of the Royal Academy from 1993 to 1999. Early life Philip Dowson was born in South Africa. Having moved to England, he was educated at Gresham's School in Holt, Norfolk, from 1938 to 1942. Jack Zunz
Sir Gerhard Jacob Zunz (25 December 1923 – 11 December 2018) was a British civil engineer and former chairman of Ove Arup & Partners. He was the principal structural designer of the Sydney Opera House. Career Zunz was born to a Jewish family December 25, 1923 in Mönchengladbach, Germany, but at the age of 13 he moved to South Africa. After interrupting his studies to serve with the South African Army in Egypt and Italy in the Second World War, he graduated in civil engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 1948. He worked for a consultant and structural steelwork fabricator, before coming to London to join Ove Arup in 1950. Alec Broers
Alec Nigel Broers, Baron Broers (born 17 September 1938) is a British electrical engineer. In 1994 Broers was elected an international member of the National Academy of Engineering for contributions to electronic beam lithography and microscopy and for leadership in microfabrication. Education and early life Broers was born in Calcutta, India and educated at Geelong Grammar School and Melbourne University in Australia and at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, in England. Cambridge Judge Business School is the business school of the University of Cambridge. The School is a provider of management education.
