The California Golden Bears are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, Berkeley. Referred to in athletic competition as ''California'' or ''Cal'', the university fields 30 varsity athletic programs and various club teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I primarily as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and for a limited number of sports as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). In 2014, Cal instituted a strict academic standard for an athlete's admission to the university. Drake Callender
Drake Steven Callender (born October 7, 1997) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami. Early life Callender played youth soccer with Cap FC United and Placer United, before going on to be part of the San Jose Earthquakes academy from 2013 to 2016. In 2016, Callender began playing college soccer for the California Golden Bears. In four seasons, Callender made 54 appearances, keeping 16 clean sheets. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA All-Far West Region First Team and the All-Pac-12 First Team for the 2017 season. Troy Roberts (born September 18, 1983) is an American former soccer player. Career College and amateur Roberts attended Washington High School in Fremont, California, and played college soccer at UC Berkeley, and was named All-Pac-10 his junior and senior seasons. He also played in the National Premier Soccer League with Sonoma County Sol in its inaugural season in 2004. Professional Roberts was drafted in the first round (8th overall) in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by Los Angeles Galaxy, and although he saw limited action with the team in his rookie season, went on to play 61 games in his four years with the club, winning both the MLS Cup and the US Open Cup in 2005.
