Are Media is an Australian media company. It was formed after the 2020 purchase of the assets of Bauer Media Australia, which had in turn acquired the assets of Pacific Magazines, AP Magazines and Australian Consolidated Press (ACP) during the 2010s. It is owned by the Sydney investment firm Mercury Capital. History Australian Consolidated Press Consolidated Press was formed in 1936, combining ownership of ''The Daily Telegraph'' and Frank Packer's '' Australian Women's Weekly''. It was renamed Australian Consolidated Press (ACP) in 1957, and acquired '' The Bulletin'' in 1960. ''The Daily Telegraph'' was sold to News Limited in 1972; the same year ACP founded '' Cleo'' and took over Publishers Holdings (including ''Australian House & Garden'', '' Wheels'', and others). Ted Theodore
Edward Granville Theodore (29 December 1884 – 9 February 1950) was an Australian politician who served as Premier of Queensland from 1919 to 1925, as leader of the Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), state Labor Party. He later entered federal politics, serving as Treasurer of Australia, Treasurer in the James Scullin, Scullin Australian Labor Party, Labor government. Theodore was born in Adelaide, the son of a Romanian Australian, Romanian immigrant. He left school at the age of 12, and spent the next decade working his way around the country. He arrived in Queensland in 1906, and soon became involved in the Australian labour movement, labour movement. Theodore was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in 1909, aged just 24. He was also elected state president of the Australian Workers' Union in 1913. Dolly (magazine)
''Dolly'' (stylised in all-caps) was an Australian bimonthly teen magazine started in 1970 by Fairfax Ltd. in Australia and New Zealand, and purchased by ACP in 1988. The magazine became an online-only publication, and the print edition ceased, in December 2016. In June 2020, the magazine was purchased from the Bauer Media Group by Mercury Capital. ''Dolly'' was the basis and inspiration for '' Sassy Magazine'' (1987–1996) in the United States. The magazine was aimed at teenage girls (13–17 age group) and covered celebrity news and gossip, fashion and beauty and various feature articles attractive to female teenagers and dealing with issues that are faced by this age group and gender. ''APC'' (formerly known as Australian Personal Computer) is a computer magazine in Australia. It is published monthly by Future plc, Future Australia. ''APC'' was first published in May 1980 by Sean Howard and is the longest running computer-magazine in Australia. The magazine's website publishes daily technology news, mostly separate from the printed magazine. The magazine was bought from Bauer Media Group in 2013 by Future. Future subsequently incorporated ''PC & Tech Authority'' into ''APC'' after acquiring it (along with other computing assets) from Nextmedia in 2018. Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) was one of Singapore's two state media companies, which published ''The Straits Times'', numerous other newspapers and operated radio, television and digital media. In 2021, the media division was spun off as SPH Media, leaving behind the property and aged care businesses.
