Al-Shorta SC Managers
Al-Shorta Sports Club () is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. It has teams in 19 different sports, and the best known section of the club is the football team, whose origins date back to 1932. Al-Shorta was formally established as a sports club in 1978 after a clubs-only policy was introduced to Iraqi football. Al-Shorta's football team is one of the most successful in Iraq, having won the Iraq Stars League seven times and the Iraq FA Cup once, completing the domestic double in the 2023–24 season. Al-Shorta were crowned the inaugural Arab Club Champions Cup winners in 1982 and are one of only two Iraqi clubs to have won the tournament. Al-Shorta have won two Iraqi Super Cup titles and are also the only team to win the Baghdad Championship three times in a row. Al-Shaab Stadium
Al-Sha'ab International Stadium () is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Baghdad, Iraq. The 35,700-seater was the home stadium of the Iraq national football team, as well as the largest stadium in Iraq, from its opening on 6 November 1966 until the Basra International Stadium was opened in 2013. It is owned by the government of Iraq. 2023–24 Al-Shorta SC Season
The 2023–24 season was Al-Shorta's 50th season in the Iraq Stars League, having featured in all 49 previous editions of the competition. Al-Shorta participated in the Iraq Stars League as defending champions, as well as competing in the Iraq FA Cup. Al-Shorta did not participate in the AFC Champions League as they did not obtain an AFC license. Al-Shorta won the league title for the third consecutive season, led by Moamen Soliman, who returned to the club to take over from Chiheb Ellili midway through the season. Al-Shorta secured the league title in the penultimate round of the season by defeating Duhok 1–0. Iraq FA Cup
The Iraq Cup (), commonly known as the Iraq FA Cup, is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout association football, football competition in men's domestic Football in Iraq, Iraqi football organised by the Iraq Football Association. First held in the 1948–49 season for clubs and institutions, it returned in the 1975–76 season as a clubs-only competition. The tournament usually begins with several rounds played between lower division clubs, twelve of which advance to the Round of 32, where the Iraq Stars League clubs are entered. This is followed by the Round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final which is played as a single leg in Baghdad. The winners of the competition are awarded a place in the next season's AFC Champions League Two group stage.
