Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize N.V. (in Dutch language, Dutch literally "Royal Ahold Delhaize"), commonly known as Ahold Delhaize, is a Dutch-Belgian multinational retail and wholesale holding company. Its name comes from the 2016 merger of two companies: Ahold (Dutch) and Delhaize Group (Belgian), which both have origins in the 1800s. Etos B.V., trading as Etos, was founded in 1919 by Philips to create a grocery and drugstore where Philips employees could benefit from lower priced products than the average stores. Profi is a chain of supermarkets and convenience stores with 1,808 locations in Romania owned by Ahold Delhaize. History Belgium and Luxembourg Profi discount store network was founded in 1979 in Belgium by the Louis Delhaize Group.
