ABC Kids (originally known as Disney's One Saturday Morning until 2002) was an American Saturday-morning cartoon, Saturday morning block programming, children's programming block that aired on American Broadcasting Company, ABC from September 13, 1997 to August 27, 2011. It featured a mixture of animated television series, animated and live-action series from Disney Television Animation, Walt Disney Television Animation and Disney Channel, aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 14. This was the second block that showed cable children's channel content on over-the-air television in the United States, the first being Nickelodeon on CBS. Nightmare Ned (TV Series)
''Nightmare Ned'' is an American animated television series which ran from April 19 to July 5, 1997, on ABC. The show was produced by Walt Disney Television Animation and Creative Capers Entertainment, and created by Terry Shakespeare, G. Sue Shakespeare, and David Molina of Creative Capers Entertainment. The show was based on and developed alongside the computer game of the same name, but the show ended up being completed before the video game was released. ''Nightmare Ned'' focuses on the life of Ned Needlemeyer (voiced by Courtland Mead), an 8-year-old boy who deals with his daily problems through dark yet quirky nightmares. The show received mixed reviews from critics. It aired only once and was never re-released, being described as a "great oddity of the Disney Studio's television output" which was "largely disowned". ''Jungle Cubs'' is an American animated series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation for ABC in 1996, serving as the prequel to the 1967 film ''The Jungle Book'' as it's set in the youth of the animal characters years before the events of the film. A critical success, the show ran for two seasons on ABC from 1996 to 1998 before its syndication in re-runs on the Disney Channel. The show was broadcast on Toon Disney, but was taken off the schedule in 2001. Re-runs aired on Disney Jr. in the US from 2012 to 2013.
