Two-time defending champion Iga Świątek defeated Jasmine Paolini in the final, 6–2, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2024 French Open. It was her fourth French Open and fifth major title overall. Świątek saved a match point en route to the title, in the second round against Naomi Osaka. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits – the ATP Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour. It was formed in September 1972 by Donald Dell, Jack Kramer, and Cliff Drysdale to protect the interests of professional tennis players, and Drysdale became the first president. WTA 250 is a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association tour, implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. Earlier these events were classified as WTA International tournaments, WTA International Tournaments. At their introduction in 2021, WTA 250 tournaments' prize money was approximately $250,000. As of 2025 WTA Tour, 2025 season, this has risen to $275,094. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 250. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam tournament ("Major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, 1000 points for winning a WTA 1000 tournament, and 500 for winning a WTA 500 tournament. WTA 500 tournaments is a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association tour, implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. At their introduction in 2021, WTA 500 tournaments' prize money was approximately $500,000. Since then, prize money awarded by WTA 500 events has grown less uniform, with one tournament's prize money rising to as much as $1.5 million. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 500. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam tournament ("major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, 1000 points for winning a WTA 1000 tournament, and 250 for winning a WTA 250 tournament.
