2023 WTA Tour
The 2023 WTA Tour (branded as the 2023 Hologic WTA Tour for sponsorship reasons) was the global elite women's professional tennis circuit organized by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for the 2023 tennis season. The 2023 WTA Tour calendar comprised the Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam tournaments (supervised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF)), the WTA 1000 tournaments, the WTA 500 tournaments, the WTA 250 tournaments, the Billie Jean King Cup (organized by the ITF), the year-end championships (the 2023 WTA Finals and the WTA Elite Trophy), and the team events United Cup (combined event with Association of Tennis Professionals, ATP) and Hopman Cup (sanctioned by the ITF). 2023 also marked the return of the WTA to China, after COVID-19 pandemic in mainland China, strict COVID-19 protocols in the country and the disappearance of Peng Shuai, disappearance of former tennis player Peng Shuai. Iga Natalia Świątek (; born 31 May 2001) is a Polish professional tennis player. She has been ranked as the List of WTA number 1 ranked singles tennis players, world No. 1 in women’s singles by the Women's Tennis Association, Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for 125 total weeks. Świątek has won 22 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including five Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, major titles: four at the French Open and one at the US Open (tennis), US Open. She has also won the 2023 WTA Finals – Singles, 2023 WTA Finals and ten WTA 1000 titles. Świątek is the first Pole to win a major singles title. As a junior, Świątek was the 2018 French Open – Girls' doubles, 2018 French Open girls' doubles champion alongside Caty McNally and the 2018 Wimbledon Championships – Girls' singles, 2018 Wimbledon girls' singles champion.
