Men's professional golf Major championships * 7–10 April: Masters Tournament – Scottie Scheffler won three strokes ahead of Rory McIlroy. It was his first Masters victory, and his first major championship victory. He is one of three players who had won the Masters at 25 years of age or younger over the last 40 years. * 19–22 May: PGA Championship – Justin Thomas won in a 3-hole playoff against Will Zalatoris. It was his second PGA Championship victory, and his second overall major championship victory. Men's Major Golf Championships
The men's major golf championships, commonly known as the major championships, and often referred to simply as the majors, are the most prestigious tournaments in golf. Historically, the national Open golf tournament, open and amateur championships of the United Kingdom and the United States were regarded as the majors. With the rise of professional golf in the middle of the twentieth century, the majors came to refer to the most prestigious professional tournaments. In modern men's professional golf, there are four globally recognized major championships. List Of World Number One Male Golfers
The following is a list of golfers who have been top of the Official World Golf Ranking (originally known as the Sony Ranking), since the rankings started on April 6, 1986. As of June 15, 2025, Scottie Scheffler is the number one ranked golfer. The rankings are calculated each week based on finishing positions in individual tournaments (i.e. not pairs or team events) over a "rolling" two-year period with a maximum of 52 tournaments and a minimum divisor of 40 events. During 2018, nearly 400 tournaments on 20 tours were covered by the ranking system. All players competing in these tournaments are included in the rankings. In 2023, 24 tours factored into the world rankings. A total of 25 golfers from ten countries spanning four continents have been ranked world number one. The Northern Trust
The FedEx St. Jude Championship, founded as the Westchester Classic in 1967, is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour. The Championship has a partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, with the hospital serving as the tournament's designated charity since 1970. Since 2007, it has been played as the first tournament of the playoff system for the FedEx Cup, with the field limited to the top 70 players on the FedEx Cup points list at the end of the regular season; prior to 2023, the top 125 players were included. For sponsorship reasons, the tournament has previously been titled The Northern Trust, The Barclays, and the Buick Classic. Im Sung-jae
Im Sung-jae (; born 30 March 1998), also known as Sungjae Im, is a South Korean professional golfer. Im won twice and was Player of the Year on the 2018 Web.com Tour. He was Rookie of the Year for the 2018–19 PGA Tour, and got his first PGA Tour victory at The Honda Classic in March 2020. Professional career Im turned professional in 2015. In 2016 and 2017 he played on the Japan Golf Tour, his best finish being joint runner-up in the 2017 Mynavi ABC Championship. In 2017 he finished 12th in the tour money list and 5th in the scoring average. Tour Championship
The Tour Championship (stylized as the TOUR Championship) is a golf tournament that is part of the PGA Tour. It has historically been one of the final events of the PGA Tour season; prior to 2007, its field consisted exclusively of the top 30 money leaders of the past PGA Tour season. Starting in 2007, it was the final event of the four-tournament FedEx Cup Playoffs, with eligibility determined by FedEx Cup points accumulated throughout the season. From 2019 onward, the FedEx Cup was reduced to three events, and the Tour Championship is now held in late August rather than mid-September. While originally followed by the PGA Tour Fall Series (for those competing for qualifying exemptions in the following season), a re-alignment of the PGA Tour's season schedule in 2013 made the Tour Championship the final event of the season. Scott Stallings
Scott Robert Stallings (born March 25, 1985) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early life and amateur career Stallings was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. He attended Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and was an all-state golfer and a four-year member of the Dean's List. He attended Tennessee Tech, where he was a two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, winning seven tournaments and named an All-American in 2006. Patrick Cantlay
Patrick Stephen Cantlay (born March 17, 1992) is an American professional golfer. He had a successful amateur career and was the number one golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for 55 weeks. He has won eight times on the PGA Tour as well as the 2021 FedEx Cup. He is a member of the 2022 class of the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame. BMW Championship (PGA Tour)
The BMW Championship is a professional golf tournament which is the penultimate FedEx Cup playoff event on the PGA Tour schedule. Introduced in 2007, the BMW Championship was previously known as the Western Open. The Western Golf Association, which founded and ran the Western Open, runs the BMW Championship. In 2012, 2013, and 2014, the PGA Tour named the BMW Championship its Tournament of the Year. Sepp Straka
Josef "Sepp" Straka (born 1 May 1993) is an Austrian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour, where he has won four titles. Early and personal life Straka was born in Vienna, Austria on 1 May 1993, to an American mother and an Austrian father. His parents met in Austria, when his mother worked in a golf shop and sold a glove to his father. His family moved to Valdosta, Georgia, when Straka was aged 14, so his mother could be closer to her family. After the move, Straka's father regularly flew back-and-forth to Austria to maintain his architecture business. Straka speaks German and English. Since its inception, the competition has been sponsored by FedEx.
