Jerzy Turonek
Jerzy Turonek (; 26 April 1929 – 2 January 2019) was a Polish-Belarusian historian. He was born in Dūkštas into the family of West Belarusian political activist in the Second Polish Republic's Wilno Voivodeship. Biography After World War II, Turonek graduated from the Higher School for Planning and Statistics in Warsaw in 1952, and later worked for the Polish foreign trade chamber where he was analysing the international chemicals market and worked at the European economic commission in Geneva. In the early 1960s, Turonek began researching the Belarusian national movement of the early 20th century, Polish-Belarusian relations in the 20th century, and the history of the Roman Catholic Church. In 1986, he became a Doctor of History. Turonek is the author of monograph ''Białoruś pod okupacją niemiecką'' (Belarus under the German occupation) published in 1993 by Książka i Wiedza. Copies of his monograph shipped to Belarus for distribution were confiscated by the KGB ...

Renald Knysh
Renald Ivanovich Knysh (, ; 10 September 1931 – 19 April 2019) was a Soviet and Belarusian coach in artistic gymnastics. Considered one of gymnastics' pioneering coaches, he was the coach of Olga Korbut. He was later accused of child rape by Korbut and other gymnasts he coached. He was an Honored Сoach of the BSSR and the USSR and Honorary Сitizen of Grodno. Biography Knysh was born in Kapyl, Minsk Region in September 1931, and was the Belarusian junior champion in 1949. He began coaching in 1953 at the Grodno children's sports school No. 3. He was the coach of Olympic champions Yelena Volchetskaya (1964) and Korbut (1972 and 1976), as well as Soviet national champion Tamara Alekseeva. After the 1972 Olympics, as part of the Soviet delegation, Knysh met with US President Richard Nixon. After the 1980 Olympic Games, he left the sport. Siamion Mikalayevich Domash (, ; 2 January 1950 – 9 February 2019) was a Belarusian politician and trades unionist. He was Chairman of Grodno Region in 1994. He was registered to run in the 2001 Belarusian presidential election Presidential elections were held in Belarus on 9 September 2001. The election should have been held in 1999, but a revised constitution adopted in 1996 extended incumbent Alexander Lukashenko's term for another two years. 2019 European Games
The 2nd European Games 2019 (, ''Jeŭrapiejskija huĺni 2019''; , ''Yevropeyskiye igry 2019''), also known as the 2019 European Games or Minsk 2019 (; ), were held in Minsk, Belarus, from 21 June to 30 June 2019. The games featured 200 events in 15 sports (23 disciplines). Around 4,000 athletes from 50 countries participated.
