Federal Security Service
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation СБ, ФСБ России (FSB) is the principal security agency of Russia and the main successor agency to the Soviet Union's KGB; its immediate predecessor was the Federal Counterintelligence Service (FSK), which was reorganized into the FSB in 1995. The three major structural successor components of the former KGB that remain administratively independent of the FSB are the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), the Federal Protective Service (FSO), and the Main Directorate of Special Programs of the President of the Russian Federation (GUSP). Zhanna Nemtsova
Zhanna Borisovna Nemtsova (; born 26 March 1984) is a Russian journalist and social activist. She is the daughter of Boris Nemtsov. Early life Nemtsova was born in Gorky, USSR (now Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) on 26 March 1984, to Russian politician Boris Nemtsov and part-Tatar investor Raisa Akhmetovna Nemtsova. She graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Also in Moscow, she got her second degree in law from the Kutafin Moscow State Law University. Career Nemtsova worked in the radio station Echo of Moscow, and managed her father's website. She later worked as an economic journalist for the Russian TV station RBK, anchoring broadcasts and interviewing representatives from businesses and politicians. After her father was assassinated in February 2015, Nemtsova called for a proper investigation. She received threats, and, for her safety, emigrated from Russia in June 2015. Alexander Vasilyevich Bortnikov (; born 15 November 1951) is a Russian intelligence officer who has served as the Director of the Federal Security Service, director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) since 2008. He is one of the most powerful members of the ''silovik'' faction of president Vladimir Putin's inner circle. A Hero of the Russian Federation since 2019, he also holds the rank of Army general (Russia), General of the Army, the second highest grade in use in the Russian military. According to some experts, it is likely Bortnikov played a key role in Putin's decision to Russian invasion of Ukraine, invade Ukraine in 2022. Assassination Of Boris Nemtsov
On 27 February 2015, Boris Nemtsov, a Russian politician opposed to the government of Vladimir Putin, was assassinated as he crossed the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge in central Moscow at 23:31 local time. An unknown assailant fired seven or eight shots from a Makarov pistol. Four of them hit Nemtsov in the head, heart, liver and stomach, killing him almost instantly. He died hours after appealing to the public to support a march against Russia's war in Ukraine. Nemtsov's Ukrainian partner Anna Duritskaya survived the attack as its sole eyewitness. The assassination was met with worldwide condemnation and concern for the situation of the Russian opposition. Russian authorities also condemned the murder and vowed to conduct a thorough investigation. Boris Yefimovich Nemtsov; (9 October 195927 February 2015) was a Russian physicist, liberalism in Russia, liberal politician, and outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin. The Russian 102nd Military Base (; ) is a List of Russian military bases abroad, Russian military base in Gyumri, Armenia, under the command of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.
