2014–15 Football League Two
The 2014–15 Football League Two (referred to as the Sky Bet League Two for sponsorship reasons) was the 11th season of the Football League Two under its current title and the 23rd season under its current league division format. The season began on 9 August 2014. Twenty four clubs participated, eighteen of which remained in League Two having been neither promoted nor relegated at the end of the 2013–14 season. These clubs were joined by Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Shrewsbury Town and Stevenage who were relegated from 2013–14 Football League One, and by Luton Town and Cambridge United who were both promoted from the 2013–14 Football Conference. The English Football League Two, simply known as League Two and for sponsorship purposes as Sky Bet League Two, is a professional association football league in England. EFL League Two is the fourth division of the English Football League (EFL) and fourth-highest tier overall in the English football league system, after the Premier League, EFL Championship and the EFL League One and is contested by 24 clubs. Introduced for the 2004–05 English football season as Football League Two, it is a rebrand of the former Football League Third Division. As of the 2025-26 season, Newport County hold the longest tenure in this division following their promotion in the 2012–13 season. The 2014–15 Football League One (referred to as the Sky Bet League One for sponsorship reasons) was the eleventh season of the Football League One under its current title and the twenty-second season under its current league division format. The season began on 9 August 2014. Bristol City won the league to return to the Championship after a two-year absence. They were unbeaten for the first 16 matches of the season and also finished with the best goal difference and best defence. MK Dons pipped Preston North End to 2nd place on the last day of the season after the Lancashire club lost at Colchester. But Preston were eventually promoted via the playoffs, defeating Chesterfield and Swindon 4–0 (on aggregate) and 4–0 respectively. The 2014–15 Football Conference season was the eleventh season with the Football Conference consisting of three divisions and the thirty-fifth season overall. The Conference covers the top two levels of non-League football in England. The Conference Premier was the fifth highest level of the overall pyramid, while the Conference North and Conference South existed at the sixth level. The top team and the winner of the play-off of the Premier division are promoted to League Two, while the bottom four are relegated to the North or South divisions.
