2009–10 Swiss Super League
The 2009–10 Swiss Super League was the 113th season of top-tier football in Switzerland. The competition was officially named ''AXPO Super League'' due to sponsoring purposes. It began on 11 July 2009 and ended in May 2010. FC Zürich were the defending champions. The title was won by FC Basel. Promotion and relegation Liechtenstein side FC Vaduz were relegated after finishing in 10th and last place in 2008–09 Swiss Super League. They were replaced by Challenge League 2008–09 champions FC St. Gallen. 9th-placed FC Luzern and Challenge League runners-up FC Lugano competed in a two-legged relegation play-off after the end of the 2008–09 season. FC Luzern
Fussball-Club Luzern (), or simply abbreviated to FCL, is a Swiss sports club based in Lucerne (). It is best known for its professional association football, football team, which plays in the Swiss Super League, Super League, the top tier of the Football in Switzerland, Swiss football league system, and has won the List of Swiss football champions, national title once and the Swiss Cup, national cup three times. SC Kriens
SC Kriens is a football club based in Kriens, Switzerland, that currently competing in the Promotion League, the third tier of Swiss football. The club uses Stadion Kleinfeld as home ground, and form a local rivalry with FC Luzern. SC Kriens women's team has been participating in the Nationalliga A since 2008. History The first club to be formed in Kriens was created in 1920 as ''Fussball Club Kriens'', albeit folding in 1926, and succeeded by ''Rasensportclub Kriens'' between 1931 and 1939. Servette FC is a Swiss professional Association football, football club based in Geneva, founded in March 1890 with rugby as its first sporting activity, and named after the Geneva district of the same name. The football section was created on 17 January 1900. They play in the Swiss Super League. FC Winterthur is a Swiss football club based in Winterthur, Canton of Zürich. They play in the Swiss Super League, the first tier of Swiss football, and appeared regularly in the Nationalliga A during the 20th century. Their home is the Stadion Schützenwiese. The club was refounded as AC Lugano in 2004 as a result of relegation and the financial situation of FC Lugano, which was founded in 1908. In 2008, the club reverted to its original name, FC Lugano. 2010–11 Swiss Challenge League
The 2010–11 Swiss Challenge League was the eighth season of the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of the Swiss football league pyramid. It began on 23 July 2010 and ended on 25 May 2011. The champions of this season, FC Lausanne-Sport, earned promotion to the 2011–12 Super League. The runners-up Servette won the promotion/relegation playoff against the 9th-placed team of the 2010–11 Super League, AC Bellinzona. The bottom two teams, FC Schaffhausen and Yverdon-Sport FC, were relegated to the 1. Liga. Teams 2009–10 Challenge League champions FC Thun were promoted to the 2010–11 Super League. Football Club Lausanne-Sport is a Swiss football club based in Lausanne in the canton of Vaud. Founded in 1896, Lausanne Sport compete in the top-tier Swiss Super League after being promoted in the 2022–23 Swiss Challenge League Season. They play their home games at the 12,544-capacity Stade de la Tuilière. Previously Lausanne Sport had played at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise, a 15,850 all-seater stadium used for the 1954 FIFA World Cup. 2010–11 UEFA Europa League
The 2010–11 UEFA Europa League was the second season of the UEFA Europa League, Europe's secondary club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 40th edition overall including its predecessor, the UEFA Cup. It began on 1 July 2010, with the first qualifying round matches, and concluded on 18 May 2011, with the final at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, between Porto and first-time finalists Braga. This was the first all-Portuguese final of a European competition and only the third time that two Portuguese teams faced each other in Europe, following Braga's elimination of Benfica in the semi-finals. 2010–11 UEFA Champions League
The 2010–11 UEFA Champions League was the 56th season of Europe's premier club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 19th under the UEFA Champions League format. The final was held at Wembley Stadium in London on 28 May 2011, where Barcelona defeated Manchester United 3–1. Internazionale were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Schalke 04 in the quarter-finals. As winners, Barcelona earned berths in the 2011 UEFA Super Cup and the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup. FC Aarau
FC Aarau is a Swiss professional football club based in Aarau. Founded in 1902, the club competes in the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of Swiss football after being relegated from the Swiss Super League. History FC Aarau was formed on 26 May 1902 by workers from a local brewery. The early days of the club were a success and they won the Swiss championship in 1911–12 and then again in 1913–14. The club spent 25 years, from 1907 to 1933, in the top league but were relegated to the lower league and were unable to return to the top flight for a number of decades. In the 1980–81 season the club were able to return to the top league in the Swiss football pyramid after a 3–1 victory over Vevey-Sports. AC Bellinzona
AC Bellinzona is a Swiss football club based in Bellinzona. It was founded in 1904, and won the Swiss Super League in 1948. After being folded in 2013 declaring bankruptcy, the team played the Ticino Group of 2.Liga, the sixth tier of the Swiss Football League System in 2014–15 season. After winning it and the 1. Liga Classic, Bellinzona was promoted to 1. Liga Promotion. They have since earned promotion back to, and currently play in, the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of Swiss football.
