George Galloway
George Galloway (born 16 August 1954) is a British politician, broadcaster, and writer. He has been leader of the Workers Party of Britain since he founded it in 2019, and is a former leader of the Respect Party. Until 2003, he was a member of the Labour Party (UK), Labour Party. Rafi' Dahham Mejwel Al-Hazza Al-Tikriti (; 24 April 1937 – 11 October 1999) was Saddam Hussein’s second cousin, member of the Iraqi Revolutionary Command Council, Director of the Iraqi Intelligence Service, the former Iraqi Ambassador to Turkey, and former Head of the Iraqi Secret Services, which is equivalent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States when conducting domestic activities. Mohammed Hadid
Mohammed Hadid (January 1, 1907 – August 3, 1999) was an Iraqi economist, democracy advocate, Minister of Finance of Iraq between 1958 and 1960 and the father of internationally recognized architect Zaha Hadid. Early years and family Mohammed Hadid was born into a rich Mosulite family at the beginning of the 20th century. He married Wajeeha Sabonji, with whom he had three children; Haithem, the writer and businessman, Foulath, and the noted architect Zaha Hadid. Years of study Hadid attended the London School of Economics between 1928 and 1931, and achieved a degree in Economics. It was there that he is said to have been influenced by the ideas of Professor Harold Laski, a "widely known socialist and agnostic". Abd al-Wahhab al-Bayati (Arabic: عبد الوهاب البياتي) (December 19, 1926 – August 3, 1999) was an Iraqi Arab poet. Biography Al-Bayati was born in Baghdad. Al-Bayati was an Iraqi Turkmen poet. One of his friends, Ahmed Abdel-Moeti Hegazi, said urban centers of "hotels and institutions, cafés and airports" were actually his temporary residences. He attended Baghdad University, and became a teacher after graduating from Dar al-Mu'allimin (the Teacher's College) in 1950, the same year that he released his first collection of poems, ''Mala'ika wa Shayatin'' (''Angels and Devils''). In 1996, he published a poem "The Dragon". The translation by Farouk Abdel Wahab, Najat Rahman, and Carolina Hotchandani is from the volume ''Iraqi Poetry Today'' () (c) 2003, edited by Saadi Simawe. United Nations Monitoring, Verification And Inspection Commission
The United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) was created through the adoption of United Nations Security Council resolution 1284 of 17 December 1999 and its mission lasted until June 2007. UNMOVIC was meant to replace the former United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) to carry on with the mandate to disarm Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), and to operate a system of ongoing monitoring and verification to check Iraq's compliance with its obligations not to reacquire the same weapons banned by the Security Council. United Nations Security Council Resolution 1284
United Nations Security Council resolution 1284, adopted on 17 December 1999, after recalling previous relevant resolutions on Iraq, including resolutions 661 (1990), 687 (1991), 699 (1991), 707 (1991), 715 (1991), 986 (1995), 1051 (1996), 1153 (1998), 1175 (1998), 1242 (1999) and 1266 (1999), the council established the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) to replace the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM). It was the final resolution adopted in 1999. Resolution 1284 was adopted by 11 votes to none against and four abstentions from China, France, Malaysia and Russia. Iraq rejected the resolution, particularly as it did not meet its requirement for the lifting of sanctions imposed in 1990. Despite the adoption of the resolution, it did not lead to the return of United Nations weapons inspectors or changes in the humanitarian programme.
