1961–62 In Belgian Football
The 1961–62 season was the 59th season of competitive football in Belgium. RCS Anderlechtois won their 9th Division I title. Standard Liège entered the 1961–62 European Champion Clubs' Cup as Belgian title holder and became the first Belgian club to reach the semifinals of this competition. RU Saint-Gilloise entered the 1961–62 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Olympic Stadium (Amsterdam)
The Olympic Stadium (, ) is a sporting venue which was used as the main stadium for the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. The venue is currently used mostly for Sport of athletics, athletics, other sports events and music concerts. When completed, the stadium had a capacity of 31,600. Following the completion of the rival De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam in 1937, the Amsterdam authorities increased the capacity of the Olympic Stadium to 64,000 by adding a second ring to the stadium. 10th-Anniversary Stadium
The 10th-Anniversary Stadium (), opened in 1955, was for decades the largest stadium in Warsaw, and one of the largest in Poland. Under the Polish People's Republic, it was one of the most advertised construction sites and a principal venue for Party and state festivities. In the 1980s the stadium became dilapidated, as no funds could be found to refurbish it. After 1989 it was used mainly as a bazaar called Jarmark Europa, becoming famous as the place to buy a whole range of goods, most notably clothes, software, hardware and media. Estádio José Alvalade (1956)
Estádio José Alvalade was a multi-purpose stadium in Lisbon, Portugal. The stadium was able to hold 75,000 people at a time but later its capacity was shortened to 52,411 people. It was inaugurated on 10 June 1956. Home venue of the football team of Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting CP) for 47 years, it was mostly used for football matches, but was also used for athletics and cycling. It was the first stadium in Portugal to be equipped with a lighting system that allowed for night-time activities. Armand Joseph Jurion (born 24 February 1937), nicknamed Jef, is a Belgian former professional footballer who played for the Belgium national team from 1955 to 1967. Jurion spent most of his club career at R.S.C. Anderlecht where he won nine championship titles and one Cup and was awarded two Golden Shoes. He played in the match Belgium-Netherlands in 1964 with ten teammates from the Anderlecht team after the substitution of goalkeeper Delhasse by Jean-Marie Trappeniers. Career "Jef" began to play at Ruisbroek, Flemish Brabant and earned an early interest by Brussels giants Union and Racing White, but he finally signed with Anderlecht. Jacques Stockman
Jacques "Jacky" Stockman (8 October 1938 – 4 May 2013) was a Belgian football player who played as a striker. He played most of his career for R.S.C. Anderlecht and was selected 32 times for Belgium. Club career Stockman started with the youth of FC Ronse but was soon discovered by the big clubs. He eventually chose R.S.C. Anderlecht, where he made his debut in the A-team in 1957. Stockman played 30 games that season and scored 13 goals. A season later, Anderlecht became national champions. In 1962, Stockman became top scorer of the Belgian first division with 29 goals. He was clearly ready for a big European team but simply stayed in his home country, like so many players of the time. In 1966, at the age of 28, he was sold by Anderlecht to Club de Liège despite interest from AS Roma.
