The 12th ''Vuelta a España'' (Tour of Spain), a long-distance Bicycle racing, bicycle Stage (bicycle race), stage race and one of the three Grand Tour (cycling), grand tours, was held from 26 April to 12 May 1957. Jesús Loroño
Jesus Loroño Artega (Larrabetzu, 10 January 1926 – Larrabetzu, 12 August 1998) was a Spanish professional road bicycle racing, road racing cyclist during the 1950s and early 1960s. Loroño is most famous for capturing the 1957 Vuelta a España. The previous year at the Vuelta, he finished second to Angelo Conterno by just 13 seconds. Igualada
Igualada () is a municipality and capital of Anoia county in Penedès, Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the left bank of the Anoia River and at the western end of the Igualada-Martorell-Barcelona Railway. Gilbert Bauvin (born 4 August 1927 in Lunéville, Meurthe-et-Moselle) is a former professional French road bicycle racer. He was a professional from 1950 to 1960. The highlights of his career include winning the Paris–Camembert in 1954 and Tour de Romandie in 1958 and winning four stages in the Tour de France as well as wearing the yellow jersey for a total of four days. Roger Walkowiak (; 2 March 1927 – 6 February 2017) was a French road bicycle racer who won the 1956 Tour de France. He was a professional rider from 1950 until 1960. He died on 6 February 2017 at the age of 89. Early life Walkowiak grew up in Montluçon in central France. His father emigrated to France from Lublin in Poland. He began racing after World War II as he was unable to find a job as a metalworker. The 1956 Tour de France From 1930 the Tour de France had been contested by national and regional teams. Roger Walkowiak was recruited for the French regional ''Nord-Est-Centre'' team, representing the North-east and Centre of France, despite coming from Montluçon in the South-West.
